AutoCAD 2016 with RECAP Point Cloud

How do I make a polyline boundary of the plan view (Top) of a Point Cloud?

I guess I use Edge of Point Cloud.

But I just cant figure it out ...  : (

Thx in advance...

HI @Anonymous,

I am far from being an expert on Point Clouds but let me ask if you can merely use the PNOD osnap to draw your polyline boundary while in plan view?

thx for the info; now I can snap to point cloud points - thank you. This will help for small tasks. The task I have right now is not small, there are hundreds of thousands of points. I need a command that will generate boundary of the cropped point cloud. I am pretty sure point cloud Edge is what I need to use; it probably needs a section plane ... in plan view ?

ok got it ...   : )

  1. make sure you are in plan view
  2. select the point cloud
  3. in the ribbon, click on Section Plane > Bottom
  4. in the ribbon, click on (panel extract) Extract Sections Lines

Then .. make sure you set the settings correct in the next window:
