Polar Array Edit-Add Item

I would like to add an item into an already existing polar array.

if I go into array edit mode, I can only add in by using "edit source"

and actually drawing in another element to add to my array elements.

I can't select an already existing drawing entity to add in. (see first attachment

I want to add in the thick red phantom line which is not part of the original array)

In inventor you can edit the circular pattern and reselect any component

in the drawing to add it into your already existing pattern.

(see second attachment ) I would like to do this in autocad.

Is it possible?

Hi,

>> I would like to add an item into an already existing polar array.

In the screenshot we can't see how the array looks like, we only see a part of it.

Adding an item can only be done by editing the array and give that more items. The "Replace" option can only "replace an existing item in the array", it cannot add anything.

I can see how to add items by using edit source and drawing them in from scratch.

I can't see any way of adding already drawn items in, as you can do in Inventor.

See attached pdf, where I have drawn in edit mode the line joining the sides,

but couldn't access the already existing line joining the corners to add it in.

This is not an issue when you just want to add a line in to an existing array,

but an already drawn more complex entity, would have to be either

1. redrawn from scratch

2. A separate polar array set up for that entity, with exactly the same parameters

as the first array (ie base pt, no of instances)

I do see occasions where it would be useful, and am thinking of adding it to the new idea forum

if anyone else thinks it could be useful too

When in Edit Source mode you can use the paste option, so create what you want the array source item to look like before hand, use Ctrl-C, then Edit Source, paste, ...

Thanks

That is really a nice simple solution.

So obvious when you think about it!!
