Point cloud jumping

Wonder if anyone could help, I'm working on AutoCAD 2018 to draw elevations, when I import point cloud data from a laser scanner, then set up a UCS to draw from the data will start off fine and usable bu then it will start to jump all over the place and "split" apart so i have multiple versions of the same elevation. However, it doesn't have this problem all the time and it doesn't happen just on the bigger projects. The point cloud data is close to the line work and my graphics settings are the same as a colleague who has the same computer, same version of CAD but doesn't have this problem.

Hi @Anonymous,

I see that you are visiting as a new member to the AutoCAD forum. Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

I am sorry to hear that you are having problems with your attached point clouds in AutoCAD.

I suspect that this might have to do with how far the geometry is from 0,0.  As a test, can you move everything in your file close to 0,0 and see if he problem persists?  I doubt this is graphics card related but it wouldn't be a bad idea to see if you can search for the most current driver.

Hi John,

I have tried what you've suggested and still no luck.

I first imported the point cloud and then moved it so it was over 0,0 then set up my UCS and started to draw, but after a few minutes it was jumping around again.

The point cloud, elevation marks, UCS and line work are all either on 0,0 or very near it but I'm still having trouble.

Thanks,

Jack

Hi @Anonymous,

I am sorry to hear this problem persists.  Did you try a different/newer graphics card driver?  Is your AutoCAD fully up-to-date from your Autodesk Desktop App or from your account page?

If you can share your drawing and point cloud data (perhaps from a Cloud storage location), I am happy to see if I can duplicate the behavior and possibly resolve the issue.

Hi @Anonymous,

I have download the files you provided and when I open the dgw I see that it has some proxy objects.  Do you have the add-ins/applicatoins that created these?  One is from POINTTOOLS4ACAD2007APP and the other is CloudWorx.

After playing with this for a while I could not get it to misbehave.  Can you prepare a NFO file for me so I can see how your system is configured?  I woulds also like a screen capture of your GRAPHICSCONFIG window.

Hi

I have the same problem,

How did you "play around with it" to get it to behave properly?
