Plot to file, no file name.

2014.

Out of the blue, one user does not get a suggested file name when using the PLOT command and printing to file. The file name field in the browse dialog is blank, and it doesnt matter if the user chooses PDF, DWF, or XPS.  All users share the same PC3/PMP files, and other users are not having this issue. There is an Autodesk KB article that shows the exact problem, but the reason and solution do not apply here since this is only affecting one user, and it's not limited to PDF.

It's not a drawing related thing either since it works fine for other users on the same drawings.

Anyone else ever seen this?

Hi,

does it make a difference if your user plot from layout or modelspace?

Does this one user have the same (or different) permissions in the plot-output folder compared to the other users? Best to test by starting AutoCAD "as administrator" and try the plot again.

I have this problem.  I tried to resolve it well over a year ago but to no avail.

Having recently installed 2017, then imported custom settings form the previous version, the issue persists.

I've just reset 2017 back to default & the problem is not present.  So it has to be something to do with a custom setting I've imported.

I have no idea how to establish where the issue lies.  I tried migrating the selecting again but only selecting the CUI but made no difference.

I then tried clearing out all of the old redundant imported customisation settings, exporting them, reset 2017, then re-importing.  Still no difference.

Then I tried manually exporting User Profile (.arg file) & current CUI setting (.cuix file) from the previous version.

On a default 2017, imported the User Profile - same problem.  Switched back to the default 2017 profile - no problem.

So after an hour or so, still none the wiser as to how to fix this issue.

Update:

I sent a support request to Autodesk (after rebuilding my user profiles).

It seems to be a corrupted or non-existent path in Options > Plot and Publish > Default Location

After correcting this, the issue was resolved for me on 2015 & 2017.

That may very well be a solution, but it's not the only solution because this was checked out on my user's machine and it's okay - and the problem still exists.

Hope your solution helps someone else though.

Thanks.

Do you ever find a solution of this issue RK? I've come into the same issue. I'm just starting to search but thought I'd hit you up and see if you solved it.
