Pline command draws rectangle instead of polyline

Guys, 

need some help here. 

I need to overlay the coordinates of installed watermain over an existing watermain drawing. 

I have the coordinates, as I enter them the first time, I get a line drawn, as expected. 

The second attempt, draws a rectangle, which makes no sense to me at all. 

Any clue as to what to do in order to solve this?

1. It IS a polyline!

Select the object and run command LIST or see the content in your properties palette (ctrl+1)

2. Your setting for polyline width is set to higher than 0

Set it back to zero

3. Your current view is not 90°c to the current working plane(ucs) 

OR FILLMODE is set to 0 (=off)

You should test 1), check the 3) and at last change the default plinewid to 0
