Please add DXF as an option to the export command

I create a lot of parts to be run on a cnc router. As things are set up now I have export the individual parts as a dwg. then save them as a dxf. It would be very helpful to export them directly as a dxf. If this is an option already, please tell me where I can find it.

Hi @steven_dusek

You don't need to export. You can use SAVEAS command.

The save as command will provide the option to save your dwg file to dxf format.

I do know about save as dxf. the advantage of Export is you can Export a selection from a drawing file. I create multiple CNC patterns in a single file. Currently I have to Export the individual patterns as a DWG. Then save those multiple dwgs and dxf files. It would be much easier to Export the patterns directly to dxf.

Use the WBlock command and change the output to DXF.

@steven_dusek What you want is not available, and you can't make it show up, but you can open a support ticket and ask for it then in 2-3-5-10-20years from now it might appear. Might.

In the meantime... you can customize with LISP or other programming language to create the interface and settings you prefer if the other tips offered are not to your liking. Let everyone here know how you would like to proceed for additional guidance.

It's absolutely possible:

I'll assume you are simply missed the OP only wants DXF out ability inside EXPORT command, nothing more, and I directed them to explore your tip and others too.

One way to 'export' to DXF is to use the Wblock command.

I'm assuming that would meet the OP's needs.

That is brilliant. Thank you. I never thought of using wblock in that way.
