Performance Issues

Hi

Recently I downloaded AutoCad 2017 onto my laptop, but I haven't been able to use it all that much because most of the commands are tiny, for example the Layers Properties menu. The words and window itself are all squished together and even the best magnifying glass doesn't help! Even at that, the program runs very slowly, but I can't understand why. I bought my PC nearly specifically to run this program, keeping all specs in mind for it, but no joy. In the screenshot i have here you can see the issue with font type. PLEASE HELP.

My PC has the following specs:

Windows 10 (64-bit) @ 2.60GHz

8GB RAM

Intel i-7 quad core

NVIDIA GeForce GTX960M w/ 4GB vRAM

Thanks

Hi

Do you have any idea how long this will take? At the moment it basically renders it unusable, and the main reason I got the laptop was for convenience and AutoCAD, having not to commute to college to do assignments I could do at home.

Very frustrating not being able to use it properly.

Thanks,

Darragh

Hi,

@dhard

I do understand that for real updates (AutoCAD 2016 to 2017), so if the update contains real new functionality. But AutoCAD 2017 Update 1 is nothing else than a service pack as it just repairs defects. So that has to be made more easy available (also for support to have a link for users and show "there it is").

Especially as not all users have Autodesk Desktop App installed and not all users do have an account into the subscription center ... what can they do? They are lost, as long as their admin does not install the update for them (which is not really possible for customers with a mass of licenses). For me/my personal opinion to that: one of the (again) bad decisions or with other wording "how can I block customers". Sorry for that words.

Hi Alfred,

The 2017.1 Update combines new functionality with defect fixes, and it is only available to those on subscription.

We will continue to make critical and security fixes available to all users.

Note that CAD managers and admins usually block individuals from installing updates on their own, as they want to control the roll-out process and what goes on the desktop.

Hope this helps.

Thank you.
