Pdf Import

Hi,

I currently use AutoCAD 2019; I regularly import Pdf files mainly drawings. In my Pdf import tab, I do not have Text Recognition and Text Settings available.

How can I avail of these extra options?

Regards

Niall

Show us what you see (and don't see) please: we don't know what you are looking at specifically.

And how do you know your PDF contains searchable text? Just as many have it as do not.

Can you search/edit/highlight text in your PDF viewer outside of AutoCAD? If yes, where do they show up, in the body of the text or in a side bookmark tab not related to it?

Hi,

PDFIMPORT dialog never changed and there are no settings you are talking about!

Start command PDFSHXTEXT and switch to the settings, if that is what you looking for.

Hi, and thanks for your advice.

The commands PDIMPORT, PDFSHXTEXT & Combine Text are the commands in question. I have been looking at a tutorial about how to import a pdf, the text is usually separate individual items and how to join them together as a text group. You have to use the Pdf Text Recognition Settings Dialog Box.
I noticed that after you click Insert on the Menu Bar, then choose Pdf Insert, there also appears in the window, Recognize SHX Text, Recognition Settings and Combine Text.
How can I add this feature rather than having to type in each individual command?

After you import a Pdf file, the text is nearly always separate individual items, I want to add the commands to the Menu Bar that will allow you to join them together as a line text or a group text.

The commands are PDFIMPORT, PDFSHXTEXT & Combine Text

I don't want to type each individual command.

@niall.rasmussen thanks for the extra information: sadly, what you want is not n option to add to any core command/popup.

Looks like you will have to look for or develop your own (or find a 3rd party) add-on that combines all features of the different commands into one. These customization forums may be where you will head over next to ask for help doing that https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad-customization/ct-p/AutoCADTopic1

Also look here to see if there is such an add-on already developed https://apps.autodesk.com/ACD/en/List/Search?isAppSearch=True&searchboxstore=ACD&facet=&collection=&...

Good luck.
