PDF files too heavy

Hello.

I've been recently using AutoCAD 2017, and I noticed that the pdf files that I plot are very very heavy, comparing to AutoCAD 2015. I use Adobe Illustrator to finish up my works, but some pdfs are completely unworkable, Illustrator gets very slow and ends up crashing. I use the "smallest file size" in Plot options, but it seems that it makes no real difference from the other configurations.

Is there a way to plot lighter PDF files? I don't need the pdf to have all the layers separated, it can be "flat".

Should I use AutoCAD 2015 just to plot my files?

Too heavy? line thicknesses are controlled by your plot style tables or your LWEIGHT settings if that is what you mean.

Otherwise you neglected to mention which PDF driver you used and you provided no sample PDF for us to look at either. Share more info if you can.

No, not heavy like thick lines, I meant heavy like, slow on loading.

That could be anything then: ensure your source DWG file has no gradient hatches, no dense hatch patterns like dots, capture all fonts and other tips you can find at the Illustrator help forums.

What driver are you using in 2017? There are 5, compared to 2015's one.
