PAT file for 3" x 24" herringbone custom hatch pattern

I cannot figure out how to code a 3" x 24" herringbone pattern and would love some help!

There are lots of herringbone patterns in the Customization Forum.  In a quick look, I found patterns of longer shapes than brick types in ratios of 5-to-1, and 6, and 10, and even 12, but didn't see anything with 8-to-1 proportions.  It could be defined at 3x24 directly, but could also be "generic" at 1x8, and you would use it at a scale factor of 3 [unless you're talking about one with double lines to show mortar or grout joint width].

 

It sounds like you've tried, which is good -- what do you have so far?

Or, at orthogonal orientation to be used at 45° rotation if that's what you need, and without the weird origin numbers so you can place the origin at a meaningful location:

*Herringbone3x24
0, 0,0, 3,3, 27,-21
90, 3,0, 3,-3, 27,-21

 

Or, the "generic" version, at 1 drawing unit for the small dimension of the tiles [or whatever they represent], with an 8-to-1 tile-shape ratio, so you can use it with a scale factor of whatever you want the small dimenion to be [to get 2x16, 10x80, 4.5x36, etc.], without needing to do any relative-size calculations:

*Herringbone1x8
0, 0,0, 1,1, 9,-7
90, 1,0, 1,-1, 9,-7

Hi Kent,

 

The pattern is fit for purpose as it does place an instance of both pattern lines at the origin without translation.  Patterns are best viewed graphically rather than from within a text editor. 

 

But I will concede a spelling mistake.
