Pasting a block to a different drawing brings dimension styles with

I am working on creating a new fresh and faster template for my company, part of that includes re-making blocks and removing excess styles.   As part of this, I have noticed that when I paste a block from our old drawing into the new template, it brings with some of the dimension styles even though they are not used in that block.  I know they are not used because I can just purge the style back out.  But it leaves me wondering as to why that happens.

They either reside inside your block or were part of the unseen selection you made is the most common reason.

Has this always happened to you? Or just now/recently? or just with this one block?
And in ALL files, or just the few you are working in? Or just in this one borrowed file you are trying to turn into a template?
Is the content from a vertical variant of AutoCAD?

Are you aware tools like CHECKSTANDARDS exist in AutoCAD to clean up files (and especially new templates)?

I don't know if it has always been happening or not, it is pulling with it our (previous) standard dimension styles so they were probably just already in all the drawings, or even if not, it raised no concern that they were all of a sudden.

It has done it with all 5 blocks I have tried, including one that I created which was a brand-new single polyline, so they are definitely not "in" the block.  

I am aware of some of the tools that exist to clean things up, it's just that some of our previous styles and such are to be re-used, but I don't want to be re-using them if they are bringing other styles and similar "bloat" with them, and because every block seems to be bringing the bloat with even though it's not actually attached, it makes it difficult to figure out what items actually have that stuff bound too them.

@jdBAM63 I am not able to replicate your issue with my own blocks, maybe I am missing a step or something.

Here is an idea: why not rename the offending DIMSTYLE to the same name as your new DIMSTYLE and just eliminate the issue? A quick little LISP to do that as part of your COPYCLIP process should make it seamless.

Or since your template is a work in progress, why not just finish first then remove the content you don't wish to use

Current styles will always come along for the ride. May I suggest starting a "working drawing" that contains all the blocks to be redefined? Insert everything that needs to be reworked, then clean up layers, styles, regapps, etc.. Basically all of the bloat, or inconsistently named items, that are always a struggle to remove and aggravating when they keep reappearing. 

I've used this method before and it sure helped. I then Wblocked them out into their respective files so I have a fresh start without all the baggage.
