dimensions can adopt scale only if it's dimension style  is define as annotative and the dimension objects are set with the right annotation scale such as if you only use a non annotative dimension style you'll be clean.

to remove the annotation from dimensions select them and in properties palette set Annotative (under Misc) to no.

Hi Moshe,

I have tried all means, my dim id dimassoc 2 so that any vp scale dim will always adjust but the problem when you move object in model space the dim will fly out i dont have this problem in autocad 2017

@Anonymous ,

Now it's another thing you telling us...your dimension are associative? then first set DIMASSOC back to 1 so you don't create more associative dimension and for the existing ones explore DIMDISACCOCIATE command.

dimassoc 2 supposed to fast track shop drawing production, you only need 1 type of dimension for all view port with different scale. if i switch to dimassoc 1 I will have multiple dim style for each veiwport with different scale. correct me if im wrong and if there's a another way around thanks

@Anonymous ,

you are wrong, when dimassoc = 0, autocad draw an exploded dimensions. when dimassoc = 1, autocad draw non associative dimension but as one object (similar to block) when dimassoc = 2, dimension are associative. no dimension styles created/added to the drawing due to setting of dimassoc.

workaround? read again what i said earlier.

as per the link you provided it suggested to use annotative dimension instead, which is more prone to fly out dimension?

hi Moshe

I have attached dwg where i toggle between dimassoc 1 and 2 with not changing settings in dimension style, it shows that when dimassoc is 1 the  dim is not giving correct dimension when i scaled down the viewport, then tell me the work around for this thanks

You are dimensioning in PS so you only need one dim style, and non-annotative is the best way to go due to PS sometimes glitching and having an annotative scale other than 1:1.

DIMASSOC should be set to 2 for PS dimensions.

ya thats what im saying i have viewports and 1 dimstyle meaning im dimensioning in ps! i have tried non annotative , annotative still having fly off dimension, me and my designers as well, what we are doing is after dimension select all the dimension and disassociate all which not supposed to happen. this is frustrating its really critical in our fabrication

When you say the dimension keeps changing scale, do you mean the text dim value is showing larger than it should be, or are you saying the dim extension lines grow in size or are out in space now and not near the object in the viewport.  Post a jpg or two illustrating what you are seeing.

Post the drawing here, or a small part of that drawing.  Save a copy, erase everything but a few items post.

This time what I did is I did the dimension then edit something in drwing block when i came baclk to paperspace one of the dimension is out of scale this happens everytime in my autocad and on my drafters. Im using 2018 full version and my drafters is using 2018 LT. is this something to do with my dimension settings? please help thanks

The DIM SCALE LINEAR will show 16 for the errant dim and 4 for the correct ones.  I don't know what causes this but the fix is to select that dim or all dims in PS and in properties find the DIM SCALE LINEAR under Primary Units, swipe over the VARIES value and put a 1 in and hit enter.  AutoCAD will do the multiplication for each viewport and set the correct dim scale linear.

thank you for you reply I appreciate it, so as of today there's no fix for this from autodesk, this is only a temp work around because every now then the culprit dim will keep on going back to out of scale and i dont know why its only on a specific dim. we tried to another work around is dimdis the dimension but this is another process to the drafting
