How to name points ?

Hi, i was studying this support page https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/learn-explore/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/AutoCAD-... about creating a list with point coordinates inside a drawing and as external list and it worked fine (dataextraction command) but i couldn't find an option in the point properties to change its name from "point" to p1, p1, p3 etc.

How do i do that ? how do i give specific names to the points of my drawing ? Also, how do i insert a label with the name and the X,Y coordinates for each of the points ? Thanks !

@renan.jose  hi,

the point block you defined contains an attribute tag NAME and is default value is 'point'. cause you did not specified any name to points at the time you insert them DATAEXTRACTION takes the default value. to fix this you have 2 options:

edit the table fields

or

name each point and redo table.

From your tutorial link:
"Create an attribute - to store / set the name of each point"

Did you do that part yet?

In AUTOCAD a Point is a Point, you can not name a point or similar.

But your picture display a CIVIL Job (Autodesk CIVIL3D)  and in this software are other "points" available and this is what you are looking for!

I guess AutoCAD is the wrong software for you, in Civil you have "Cogo Points" - Click.

Answer:

Command: INSERT create a blockreference if a the blockdefinition whith this name is reachable.

Also you have access via DESIGNCENTER [CTRL+2] to import a Blockdefinition from one file to another,

and a lot more things - i can not all write down now.
