Paper space size different than print size...

Hello AutoCAD community,

I am having a strange issue which I have inherited from the former user. I am using AutoCAD 2017 and I am working for a developer using pre-existing layouts and settings and plotting to an HP 1050c plus printer. I am newer to CAD and still learning A LOT about it.

One issue I'm trying to resolve is when I plot a layout, paper space is measuring the paper size as 8'x12' which is wrong,

but the settings in page setup for paper size are 36"x24" which is correct.

I have my title block and viewports set to correct scales but this obviously makes them take up 24"x36" of the 8'x12' paperspace. So if I just try to print as is with those settings, it prints it small and not to scale in the lower left hand corner.

My work around has been to plot the window and specify the title block size and check the fit to paper box, but I would like to fix this issue so it automatically prints correctly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Look at your CUSTOM SCALE settings. DO NOT use Custom scale when using Layouts

You should also set WHAT TO PLOT to  LAYOUT   not Window

This will give you the 24"x36" paper size

See if that gets you the correct paper size

Hi @tim,

I see that you are visiting as a new member to the AutoCAD forum. Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

I agree with @Anonymous's suggesteions. Because your scale is set to 1:4, the 2'x3' paper size is now 8'x12'.  Set your scale at 1:1 to correct this. Once you have done this I think your layout should show up correctly and you can avoid selecting a Window to plot.

Please post your results.

That was the problem. Changing scale to 1:1 corrected it, then all i had to do was move my viewports and title block up to the paper.

Thanks!

My printed size is about 90-95% of the paper space size (or what the scaled drawing should be). I have already set the plot scale to 1:1, "What to plot" is set to layout and the viewport to 1:100. Still no cookie. Please help.

Print to paper or print to file(pdf for example)

or do you print a PDF to paper?

Is it correct in layout tab?

Use DIST command without osnaps for this check.

I am having a strange issue. I am using AutoCAD 2011

One issue I'm trying to resolve is when I plot a layout, paper space is measuring the paper size as 24'9"x35' which is wrong but the settings in page setup for paper size is 11.7" x 16.5" which is correct.

 Page setup size -  11.7" x 16.5"

Paper space size ( on Measurement ) -  24'9"Paper Size Selection i.e. A-3Paper Size Selection i.e. A-3Print Space i.e 24'9" x 35'Print Space i.e 24'9" x 35'x35'

Please solve my problem as soon as possible so that i can proceed for next lecture.
