OSNAP Issue

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hello all,

First time poster. I usually find all the answers I look for but this one I havent been able to describe well enough to figure out what is causing the issue.

I have recorded a short clip of my problem.

I usually need to move or create lines based off a certain distance from a specific point. Sometimes when I snap to an endpoint or intersection and drag to lets say 6" away from it to move it from there it works, but other times it doesnt. This issue only recently started happening

Im hoping the description and video of my problem will be enough information to find a solution.

Here is a link to my video:

Thanks in advance!

Please verify your OSNAPCOORD system variable,  it should be 2.

Thanks for the quick reply!

It is currently set to 2. Im wondering why this happened all of a sudden. Ive been using autocad for years now and not once has this been an issue.

Can you export your settings and upload the zip file here?  I can compare it to default settings, it could explain what variable might have changed.

When I get home here in a while I'll pop them open and see if I can replicate the.issue.  is your PICKBOX always off when you use cad? (I don't see it anywhere in the video after watching it again even closer.)  it may not be related, but I've heard of stranger things.

My PICKBOX is currently at 3. I wouldnt want you to go through any trouble. I thought maybe someone would have an easy solution.

Nope, no layers are locked! I considered maybe some of the lines have z values thats causing it but that wasnt it either.

It wasn't any trouble to run through and compare settings. It took longer for my computer to boot than to compare settings.  there are only a few differences, none I think would cause an issue.  I left your settings loaded and tried doing a move and couldn't reproduce it, I tried following what I thought the steps you followed but found it to be difficult not being able to see any command line responses.  is it possible to post the drawing that has this issue or possible record the video showing the command line input?  of you use screencast it can also show clicks and picks as well as command line data all simultaneously.

It sounds like someone else may be having a similar issue, so I'm also suggesting what I'm seeing over there: check the APERTURE sysvar.  I'd provide a link, but my paste function is not working on my cell phone.

When typing in APERTURE I get the following message: Object snap target height (1-50 pixels) and its currently set to 10.

I recorded another video of the issue. The second point (midpoint of line) i try to drag from works and I am able to enter 6" and move it but with the first point it doesnt drag along the line and allow me to specify to move from a distance of 6".

Im starting to think perhaps this is an issue with the file itself. I dont recall this happening with any of my other project files.

Hi,

Since this problem is only occuring on a particular file, it may be a issue with the drawing. Is it possible to upload the drawing for review.

Cheers,
