Opening up AutoCAD 2000 DWG & saving in AutoCAD 2015

WHEN I OPEN UP AUTOCAD 2000 DRAWINGS USING AUTOCAD 2015 IT PROMPTS ME IT IS IN WRITE PROTECTED MODE.

WHEN I MAKE CHANGES TO THE DRAWING I CANNOT SAVE THEM .

IT GIVES ME I DO NOT HAVE PERMISSION TO SAVE THE FILE ASK ADMINISTRATOR FOR PERMISSION.

I DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO.

THANKS

JASON

Hi,

welcome @forums.autodesk.com!

Start Windows Explorer, select the file, right-click and look to it's options.

Either it's write protected here ... or if you look to he security settings in the same properties-dialog you might have restrictions that disallows overwriting the file.

I would not see that as an issue of AutoCAD, it's how the file is protected by your operating system.

Another option: when you have opened the drawing run command _SAVEAS and give the file a new name and store it into a folder where you are allowed to write files.
