Opening of Layer List

I am running 2019 version.

I am not sure what I did but the Layer list is not opening. It is on the top of the drawing in a small window.

I have attached the drawing to show what is exactly happening.

Any guidance to correct the problem will be highly appreciated.

Posting your dwg files won't show us what you're seeing with the layer window.

Perhaps you can try resetting your Ribbon by entering the command CUI, right mouse click on ACAD and then select Reset ACAD.CUIX

If that fails you can also try Resetting AutoCAD:

Hi,

As much as i understand your issue....

  • you can get those Layer from upper menu  Tools >> Toolbars >> AutoCAD >> Layers.
  • Also If your ribbon is active, Double click on Home tab to get another Layer control.
  • From upper Quick access toolbar.

Click on below image to see what i mean ....

Hope that help you....

Maybe you would like the old school way of showing your layers:

Type in LA first to see how it looks now.

Then after setting the Classic, type LA.

I use Classic for this all the time.

AutoCAD: Using The Classic Layer Dialog Box

The newer versions of AutoCAD now have a new Palette based Layer Dialog (Strating in 2009). This will allow you to change anything and work in the background at the same time. This can be handy but what if you have issues and just want to old Dialog Box back. You can do this using a Variable.

How to turn on the classic Layer dialog
1.) Type LAYERDLGMODE and hit the <Enter> key
2.) Type 0 and hit the <Enter> key
Now your Dialog is set to use the classic version

LAYERDLGMODE = 0  Classic Mode

LAYERDLGMODE = 1  New Palette display

Hope this helps!

JRR!

Thank you all. I just re-install the software and then using Tools/ Pallets - set up the pallets and it is working  now.

Thanks again for the helping hand.
