Hi.

Currently i've embed CAD object in Excel received from client.

- Top image is EMBED from Autocad

- Bottom/Selected object is from Gstarcad

Currently i  don't have Gstarcad, only AutoCAD. My questions are:

1. How to open the bottom object in AutoCAD?
2. Currently if i open the top object, it used Trueview to open it. Previously this can be open with AutoCAD, but after i do another task using Trueview, suddenly this embed object opened in Trueview. How to switch back to AutoCAD application?

Thank you

Hi,

as you can see, embedded OLE information storing the program.

Answer: You can't do it, unless you add the information in your windows registry.

Fake program with the right name, what is linking to Autocad.

(Never tested in real life, but I changed it for other data)

and it is also an  issue is the same in the other direction: OLEs in DWG, fir example from exel to dwg, this way Acad trying to open a specific excel version.

If you are using another one, you can't open it from Acad.

It's a general OLE problem.

You need the other software, ask for trial version/HELP at that software vendor's support

You need to open AutoCAD, not DTV, do something in a DWG file (like Zoom then QSAVE), close the program. Now your WindowsOS will remember to use AutoCAD this time.

Remember, every time you use "Trueview" is becomes the default program on your PC for DWG files. Every time.
