Only 1 data link in AutoCAD 2018?

After recently installing ACAD 2018, my users now seem to be only able to insert 1 data link into a drawing. Prior to 2018 that had been able to insert multiple links with no issues. When inserting, they use the data link function, browse to the file they wish to link to, select it, hit ok and then nothing happens.

@Light_Guyjohn.vellek has edited your subject line for clarity: Only 1 data link?

Not seeing that here, but to cover the basics first, is R2018 fully patched and updated?
Can you create a video showing two or more datalinks attempts so we can see what the exact actions are?

Are trying to link cells from a spreadsheet? If you are, you need to PASTE SPECIAL to create the link. Do this:

  1. Highlight the cells on the spreadsheet and COPY them.
  2. Back in your drawing, Home Tab=>Clipboard Panel=>Paste Icon----You must expand it by clicking the small down arrow.
  3. Click Paste Special.                 Paste SpecialPaste Special
  4.  Select Paste Link and highlight AutoCAD Entities, then OK.Paste Link and highlight Autocad Entities.Paste Link and highlight Autocad Entities.
  5. If you've inserted correctly, your linked table will have 'green clip markers' at the corners.

Hi @Light_Guy,

Please check your Excel version. Is it the 64-bit one? That frequently seems to resolve such issues.

I have Excel 2016 64-bit (Office 365) and I can add more than one datalink without issue.

Can you try to set up a local datalink as opposed to a network one to see if that has any impact?

Please select the Accept as Solution button if my post solves your issue or answers your question.
