Objects within a block change colour when the block layer is locked

In AutoCAD 2019 I have created a block inside which I have changed the colour of all the object to grey, but have not changed the colour of the corresponding layers within the layer manager.  This block has been placed in a new layer which has been created with the colour being grey within the layer manager.  The issue I am having is that when I lock the layer this block is in the colour of all the objects within change to match their corresponding colour in the layer manager instead of fading.  Does anyone know what could cause this as the only way I have found to get around this is to change the object colour of the block to be grey also before locking the layer it is in.

Hello @Anonymous,

My understanding is that you are trying to change the blocks color. It is as designed/normal for the color of a blocked object to stay keeping those same properties unless the block is edited.

Let us know if that is the issue you encounter or its something completely different.

Please find attached an example drawing which highlights this issue.  I have created two separate block which contain the same detail. In one I have changed the object colours to grey and in the other I have changed the object colours to be by block.  Both of these blocks have been put in the same layer which is coloured grey.  When unlocked they both appear grey but when I lock them the one coloured by block reverts to the the original colours in the layer manager (see attached image). This appears to be an issue in AutoCAD 2019 only as I have opened the DWG in 2016 and both blocks are grey when locked and unlocked.

2019 had massive problems, one of these are the property handling in nested situations

and not all of the bugs are fixed.

You will find more threads like yours, but the only one who can fix this is autodesk..
