Not able to draw lines or move objects in z-axis

I'm using Autocad 2020 in windows 10 (or really Plant 3D, but the issues are related to standard autocad functions). 

As long as i'm viewing the model at an angle, and not side/top view etc., I have always been able to draw simple lines in the z-direction using polar tracking without changing the UCS or typing coordinates, but now it will not let me.

The same goes for moving objects in z-axis.

Anyone have a solution for me?

I have tried a lot of different options and all googling just tells me to change the UCS, but that should not be necessary and makes my work a lot less efficient. I have been using Autocad for 15 years now and this haven't been an issue before.

Try OSNAPZ setting.

... and PLAN command must be set to "current ucs" to draw anything in the orientation you are viewing your model.

Or do you just need to turn off ORTHO?

You are Absolutely Right.... This happened to me many times and I spent around 5 days to figure this out.... And from then onwards, I always set the UCS to the Current view in which I am Drawing and it barely takes a Few seconds... And we can resume our work Smoothly.....

@rushabhthakkar_910 that involves extra steps that should not be necessary, and especially since i'm disabled and that means moving my one functioning hand away from the mouse

I think it must be ON.

And your view must mot be along the Z-axis.

Are you sure line can be in 3d? Autocad only allows polyline or 3dpolyline to have 2 different z elevation.

Its not really relevant for the issue, but workarounds is more challenging for me because of that.

Yes, lines can be drawn in 3D. I ts just recently it will not let me draw them along the z-axis. When I try it only gives me a zero length line.

Ortho doesn't help much, and its behaving weirdly. As you can see in the gif below when i try to draw a line in z-direction it moves in the opposite direction and less than the corsor.

Did you get the wrong behavior (the 2nd video) in a pure AutoCAD (2000), or is this in Plant 3D?

I guess, this is one of the curiosities in Plant 3D. If so, you should ask in the apropriate forum.

The company i work for still has access to the 2018 version of Plant 3D as well, so i downloaded it just to show what i was trying to do.

But we are using the 2020 version on the project and thats where the problem occurred

Both videos are in Plant 3D, but i didn't expect the standard Autocad tools to work differently in Plant. Thats why i posted it here.

BTW. When i use ORTHO in a standard view (top, right, front etc.) or WCS it works as it should, but not when i'm using a custom named UCS as my project uses.
