Need Request Code

Hi,

I use AutoCAD for work and they had purchased AutoCAD2015 with subscription last February - I've been using the product since. I see that AutoCAD 2016 is out and would like to update. When I sign into autodesk.com I dont see AutoCAD listed as a product I own. I did a little snooping around and found myself at RegisterOnce (something I dont remember doing back in February). I get to a point where Im asked for a 'Request Code'. Needless to say I don't have/ cannot find the code that was given to me at the time of activation. How can I fully register my product beacaue as of now the subscription service that was purchased is serving 0 purpose.

So how have you been using it for the last 8 months without ever registering it?

Let's take this a step at a time.

Are you saying that when you go to http://manage.autodesk.com that you do not see AutoCAD 2015 or 2016?

So the first problem is to resolve your subscription purchase.

I recommend that you take this over here

http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/installation-licensing/bd-p/24

do you have a purchase order number?

where did you purchase?  On-line or from VAR?

You wrote, "they and purchased" but on the manage screen you are logged in.  Are you the owner of record for this license?

The software was purchased from ImagineIT a 3rd party reseller for company use. It’s a single seat license so they essentially left me in charge since I would be using it.  How do I go about acquiring a Request Code?

Is there a reason you have not contacted the reseller?

It seemed to me like this is more of a registration/autodesk problem. Can someone explain the need for a Request Code in the first place?

You did not post your question in the installation/licensing forum.

When you activate a license there are 4 codes

Serial Number and Product Key - you get these from Autodesk on purchase.

Activation Request Code - when you attempt to Activate your license you enter your Serial Number and Product Key - this information and some unique identifier for your specific machine is sent to Autodesk to create a unique Activation Code that will work only on that machine.

Activation Code - Autodesk sends a code back to your machine to activate the license on that particular machine.

You can thank pirates around the world for this IP process.

Bottom line on this process, though - you should not even be prompted to enter anything by Serial Number and Product Key, if you are connected to the internet the Activation Request Code and the Activation Code process should be done automatically in the background activating your license and then sending you a confirmation email.

These forums, while hosted by Autodesk, are not direct communication channels between you and Autodesk.  These forums are user-to-user communications.

Having cleared that up, there are a couple of Autodesk employees who regularly watch the installation/licensing area of the forums and often offer personal assistance in clearing up problems like this.

When I have trouble with my Cadillac, I do not contact GM directly.  Cadillac roadside assistance will help me out, but they simply call the nearest garage - they don't directly respond to my need. But I know I payed extra in the purchase price of the car for that service.  I do not expect (or get) the same level of service for my Pontiac.  If I had serious trouble (knock on wood) I would call my Value Added Reseller (GM Dealer - AKA VAR) for assistance, not GM.

When you do post in the correct forum - be sure to include a link back to this discussion.
