The Navigation bar  disappears frequently for me. I use it quite a bit and it has been going on for a couple of years and 3 different computers. I need to turn it off and back on to make it come back. Here is what I have do to try to stop it from disappearing

-updated Autocad through Autocad desktop app

-updated to the latest driver

-update windows

-draft near 0,0

-clear caches

-adjusted graphics settings.

Not sure what else to try.

current system

Windows 10 pro

Dell Precision tower 3620

i7-7700CPU 3.60 ghz

16gb ram

2TB 7200RPM  Hard Drive

Quadro M2000

Hello,

What version of AutoCAD???

I recall the NAVBAR crashing frequently a few versions ago but it's been stable for me since ACAD2018 for sure.

The NAVBAR status is saved in the Workspace so are you saving your Workspace settings?

Autocad years 2018 and 2019. I can't remember if it was in 2017.  I do mostly 3d drafting.

Yes I am saving my Workspace settings also. The Navbar is always there on start up. it just disappears after a while.

Thanks for the link..

The View cube has never been a problem. Its always there. its settings are correct also.

I have reset Autocad in the past and it didn't make a difference.

As for deleting and reinstalling,  the Navbar disappeared on my new computer with in a day or two. I am skeptical if it would help based on that.  However I may resort to trying if there aren't any other good options.

Can the  user account somehow mess with settings?  Or is it possible the templates I use somehow mess with settings?

That is the only consistent part as I have used 3 different computers with the same issue.

The link is for NavBar as well: the painful fix was listed in the last line (if you already tried the reset option). But logging into your PC as an all new user should help identify if it is just a profile (same as a reset) or an installation problem.

I went through all the steps in the link above. I checked the navcube settings and reset Autocad that didn't help. I deleted and reinstalled autocad. It didn't help. I redid all my templates and settings from scratch so there wasn't a legacy issue.  Everything was from the fresh install. The navbar disappears on new drawings and drawings I did before the reset and reinstall.

Anyone else have any ideas?

The nav bar disappearing is still an issue. Seems like no one can give me a solution that corrects the problem.  Is this a bug that needs to be addressed?

Since none of the steps provided have solved your issue I would recommend that head for some official customer support.

You said that you are seeing this on 2018 and 2019 AutoCAD.  Since 2019 is under the subscription sales model I must assume that you have a subscription.  Having a subscription absolutely entitles you to full technical support from your re-seller.

Most of us here at AKN forums are volunteer contributors and not official Autodesk support representatives.

Hope you can get resolved via tech support and that you will update this post as you discover any issues.  Even is you end up having a system issue on your particular setup it is useful for us to understand how solutions are found so we can continue to contribute to the community.

Much Luck,

Blaine

I have the same issue, so it is not an isolated incident.

Under 5 similar experiences spread over 3-ish years does not make it a universal problem: it is still isolated to the few.

Open a support case with Autodesk if you are on subscription to seek Autodesk Support's help: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/customer-service/account-management/users-software/support-options/we...

My navigation bar has been disappearing for years over several different releases but I just haven't posted a complaint about it. Maybe it isn't a "universal" issue, but I would be willing to bet it is wider spread than the lack of posts would indicate.

I am inclined to agree with your observation since no one in our offices over that many years have ever had this issue and what I've run across based on posts in these forums either.

From my own personal experiences, I think this is still an issue with AutoCAD 2024, but only seems to happen when doing large 3D drawings.

I use AutoCAD 3D a lot and this has been happening to me on a daily basis for the past 5 years.

It's just one of them glitches for me that happens and when my Navbar or Navcube disappears, I just type 'Navbar' then 'off' and then enter to bring the command back up and say 'on'.

Takes about 5 seconds and is a pain, but I've tried everything that's been suggested and there doesn't appear to be a working fix.

I don't think it's a issue for many because most people are using AutoCAD Plant 3D now or Inventor for large 3D models. I'm just a bit stuck in the past and prefer to use AutoCAD 3D.

Your experience with those types of files trumps mine in plain AutoCAD, that's REVIT territory for our office and industry.

It has been happening to me for years as well. I use Autocad Plant 3D 2025 and it happened on previous issues as well. It is a pain in the ass and I hope someone finds a fix for it. It IS more than just a random few...It just seems like a small issue that not everyone wants to spend the time asking about it.

Report it and see if there is a fix: Here are the ways to open a support case with Autodesk if you are on subscription to seek out Autodesk Support's help:
https://www.autodesk.com/support/account/manage/use/support#:~:text=com/plans.-,Contact%20support,-S...
and
https://www.autodesk.com/support/technical/article/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Contacting-a-techn...

You can also ask Autodesk for a change to to the program in the future at a different website, never an option in these forum (they just never look here), then wait 2-3-5-10 plus versions from now to see if it shows up. The more colleagues and AutoCAD users that you can convince to ask for this exact need as you do the more likely it will get noticed.

Best wishes.

I'm still not seeing issues with the NavBar on any of our workstations.

I'll note that the Windows 11 Taskbar seems to freeze and flake-out while using ACAD 2024.

I have "TranslucentTB" running on one workstation but not on another.  It happens on both.

It does not happen on my second monitor.  Maybe it might if I pull a drawing window over there, just haven't done so.

I minimize/maximize seems to fix it for a few minutes but glitches again after a bit.

I'm not really trying to solve it but maybe I'll attack it with support one day.

I'm late on ACAD 2025 so maybe it'll be better.
