My measure command doesn't work like it used to!!

I am using AutoCAD 2017.

 It used to work and operate like this , no matter what.

 But now all I get is this.

And when i try measuring a line i get these notations at the bottom which isn't too bad and afterall they do appear for almost all of the commands. But i would like it to work the way it always used to because its convenient for me.

Why is it doing this and how can it be fixed.

Try hitting 'F12', it should toggle your 'dynamic input' on which I assume you've accidentally turned off somehow. It should also be shown down in your lower right bar (see picture below). Hope this helps.

Aww thanks man appreciate the help!!! Totally didn't even cross my mind to use the dynamic input, seems like i have some re-learning and brushing up to do ><
