My Macro Button is Prompting the Help Feature WHY ?

Hi Guys,

So I'm creating a macro button that executes a script to open a drawing template or file. My issue is that the buttons that open a dwg works fine however my buttons that opens a dwt prompts the help feature in AutoCAD. My question is why? and should I modify the script or the macro to prevent this help feature?

Perhaps you have another problem and it appears that way only by opening a DWT.

Open by hand is not a problem?

I saw problems like this sometimes, often there was trouble with acad acaddoc startup startsuite AND CUIX files.

But hard to find if you are not sitting in front of the system - like i, i can not test on your system.

BTW: WTH, who and why need a button to open  a DWT ???

like to know this

Sure, but WHY?

It makes sense for files you want to open often, but way do need to open a template file (dwt) often??

DWT files are templates for new files, i create a template, after set up the dwt i need "never" to open the dwt again.

@rataylor

???

Your welcome, but I would find it even better if you answered my question.

I like to know why people do what they do (or trying to do).

(And why did you mark ratavlor's 'Cool' as a solution? The mark should not be used for fun)

I had no need to answer that question you asked, especially if it has no purpose to the solution that I am seeking. If you read the thread and view the JPEGS it is quite clear my intent. Sure, if there is a better way to my issue please suggest it,  this is the reason for myself coming here ( I will look into ACAD LSP ). Your response regarding template files is illogical for my situation if you consider that some companies have various clients with different CAD standards embedded in the different CAD files for different departments ( Civil, Structural, Mechanical, etc.).

Thank you again for your earlier suggestion. Have a chilled day.

You missunderstood.

I like to know that to understand the goal

1. For better help

2. For me, to learn new thing(rare, but sometime i do)

Besides, it's just nice to answer the question, because I (we) donate our time to you and your problem.

In the whole thread you talk and write about OPEN a DWT, what is unusual after the dwt is set up well.

Sometimes you need to edit also a dwt, but so often that you like to have a menu for it??

I just like to know your situation and why you need this process often.

Or do you need this button for 2 use in a year?

Usual would be to have a button to create a new file based on templateX

for the taskX, templateY for the taskY...aso.

That is what "normal users" need,

but then we talk about command NEW and not about OPEN.

I like to help you to solve your issue (i have expierence with that HELP popup too).

But for this is good to make sure that i understand you and that your try is the right one.

So i waited for your answer/explanation.

If you have the same trouble like me in the past, it isn't a short answer to solve it,

we have to search for it with some tests.

Later more, if you want.

The issue is in the title, not what you are trying to suggest or question. I have it working for the DWG but not the DWT. To put it bluntly, you are not being helpful. Please let this one.

Thank you

Says the one who has no idea, wonderful irony. 🙄

Sorry, but somehow you don’t understand. Here are people who really want to help

and it isn't only fun or makes money to help you. That indicates too: I want to help. Or?

And if you don't understand why I'm asking something, then that doesn't say anything about me, but about you.

I just ask to help you.

What is so hard to answer the question if you really talk about to OPEN a DWT instead to use it as template for new files (NEW)?

Don't forget, it's your problem, you comes to us to ask for help.

I tried to help you with your problem and instead of supporting the only remaining potential helper in solving your problem
do you chase them (me) away too? Strange way of looking for help.

Just because you don't understand why I'm asking something doesn't mean it's nonsense.
You never answered/confirm my question about open vs. new and also not the question about 'Open by hand is not a problem?'

Whatever.
Something goes wrong at some point while loading the file,
I wanted to support you with the search because I already had the problem and am therefore optimistic that I will solve the problem again.
But with a normal conversation with questions and answers you currently seem overwhelmed, or too blind with pride,
or just ignorant - I don't know.

Or maybe you just made a rookie mistake
and you have an Enter too much in the macro or in the script.
(if there is no "last command", the help is opened with Enter)

However, I guess that it is somewhere else in the GUI loading process together with individual adjustments

as a wrote in in my first answer #6,

or the beginner mistake with with addinial enter in Macro or Script.

That's a very antagonizing response. You were like that from the start and this is poor mentoring.
