hi,
I have a drawing with multiple blocks that i am updating. After editing some parts and saving each one i insert it into another drawing but its remains the old version. Am i missing a command that i need to use in my source drawing before trying to insert it? i've tried purging the source drawing to get rid of old definitions but that hasnt worked.
any help would be great
You cant purge block if it has reference in the drawing, must delete all references of that block and then purge or you can open block editor in first drawing(with edited blocks) copy all objects that create block and in the second drawing paste it in block editor for that block.
You need to redefine the blocks in the new drawing by inserting the revised block. Do not use COPY/PASTE to insert the revised block, use the INSERT command. First use WBLOCK on the revised block to save it to a new dwg. Then go to the dwg that you want to update and run the INSERT command and browse to the saved block dwg. Click on OK in the insert dialog, then answer Yes when prompted to redefine the block. At this point, you can hit ESC to cancel the insertion of a new block.
Hi,

if do you want to get the new and modified blocks in the other drawings you have to change block names in one of the drawings .
