Multi page scaled pdf plot without creating layout

I am wondering if there is a quicker way to plot multipage pdf. Creating layout takes lots of time as there are like 50 of them. Batch plot/publish needs layout.

But I am looking for a way without layout.

Thanks

Hi,

>> But I am looking for a way without layout.

How should AutoCAD know that you need 50 plots if you don't have 50 layouts (prepared with page settings, border, format, scale, ...)?

Yes, development 😉

And when we know how your data is structured, it might be easier to give a global answer like yes or no (without a bit sarcasm) 😉

Yes, all in model space. Its basically 1 large map of a city (sadly I don't have the rights to share) . I need it to plot in about 50 pages.

Hi,

Well, we got an info about the drawing content and what you'd like to do.
So do I understand that correct that you have a map, and you need to split this map into rectangles and plot then rectangle-by-rectangle?

Do you have plain AutoCAD or do you have Map 3D or Civil 3D (because these products have functions to do jobs like I guess you need).

Yes, exactly! Its drawn in plain Autocad. But I have civil 3d installed too. If I open the dwg with civil 3d is it possible? Please let me know how. Thanks

Yes, look to the command _MAPBOOKCREATE (>>>details<<<).

It's a one time hard learning time, but knowing how it works makes it a very powerful tool.

I can't generate the layouts. Saying this, "layout does not have title view element specified"

I used the attached template.

No way to do that in model space AFAIK. This is what paperspace is for...

Hi,

>> I can't generate the layouts. Saying this

Start with a default Map3D template like "Map Book Template - 34x44 Classic.dwt" so you have at least a valid template.

When you get your drawing working with that template then start to modify this until it meets your needs and Map3D can use it.

I see. So Plain Autocad template won't work? Only way is to customize existing ones?

Hi,

They have to follow rules, otherwise they can't be used by the MAPBOOK function.

>> Only way is to customize existing ones?

It's one option, the other is to study the help and modify your templates/layouts to exactly meet the specifications.
