Visual Styles Combobox in Quick Access bar

Hello forum!

have you had a problem that "Visual styles" (I mean a combo box) does not appear in the quick access bar after placing it there and clicking "Apply"? and it does not save. there is no such problem with other commands, for example a combo box of layer was placed successfuly.

This trick works for me on AutoCAD 2015 (attached screen capture):

Click on the Quick Access Toolbar down arrow and More Commands

On the CUI, click on drop down arrow under Customizations in All Files

Expand to Quick Access Toolbars > Quick Access Toolbars 1

Now drag & drop the commands from the bottom window into the Quick Access Toolbars 1

Lastly, click Apply and the Visual commands should now show up & stay in the  Quick Access Toolbars

Hi,

let me ask one thing before: why do you need that combo with visual styles when you can have that always in the upper-right corner like here:

2016-02-19 08-42-39.png

This is more close to your drawing area (modelspace as well as every viewport).

I do prefer this way to avoid too many icons in the QAT, otherwise it wouldn't be "QUICK access toolbar") 😉 Maybe it's for you ok too.

Back to your wish:

>> "Visual styles" (I mean a combo box) does not appear in the quick access bar after placing it there and clicking "Apply"?

I know that some controls can be placed into the QAT, others not.

I'm currently wondering that you got it placed in the QAT, may I ask you what's the exact name of the Visual-Style combo that can be placed into the QAT? I don't find any one showing the combo-list of Visual-Styles that I can place into the QAT.

A thought about something disappears from the QAT: I guess when you push too many controls (especially the combos which are quite wide then Autodesk might react in case of smaller app-window size with removing them to make sure a bit from the filename centered in the upper application window frame stays readable.

So if you reduce the app-window-size I can imagine that AutoCAD removes items from the QAT ... but just thoughts, never tested this!

Hello Alfred,

Ok, that one on the picture is a nice thing, to be true, I did not notice it much and always avoid looking what is inside tese links at the upper left corner of the model space, did not think about this way. have to rethink this :).

about too many Icons - no I always have had small number of Icons there and I try to put there only those which are often needed, but far to reach them (for example I do not use "Visualise for anything else but these visual styles mostly" so instead of changing the tab I would just take this combo somewhere closer on the view. Without changing the more important instruments from the sight.

And a try to answer you question about a combobox element of visual styles for menu. Yes I also could not find it in the Command List of customization manager. And may-be that is why it was not setting up unto the quick access bar (because it was forgotten by autodesk to be put into the Command List and program does not find a link or smth.) But, this combo is real right? it is in the tab visualize and in the view panel, so it exists. Consequently how I tried to put it into the quick access bar is: I found this combo box on the ribbon elements, right where it should be in the visualize - view 3D and there is that View panel "View - Visual Styles" and here on the right you can see the hole structure of the panel with combo on it. Now if you click it, it will show you where the element itself is located. so it is it. but it is not added in the Command List and may-be that is why it disapears from the quick access bar after trying to place it there. Adding a picture about this.

Hope I was clear. and I know that buttons disapear if to resize the window, but in my case the window was normal andthe combo disapeared from the Vizualize-view panel it was like it was removed. but I took it from another workplace and copied and now it is ok.

Hi,

>> the combo disapeared from the Vizualize-view panel it was like it was removed

Ok, by default to add something to the ribbon (or QAT) you should take it from the lower left section, either commands or controls.

Every move of an item from a ready to use ribbon part is exactly what you mentioned ... "move away from the current position", it does not do a copy.

>> I took it from another workplace and copied and now it is ok.

Well, if it's not needed there, then you've found your workaround, great! 😉

Thx for feedback (and mark your post as solution for future readers)

I doubt about solutio because a solution could be finding out on how to add this combo box or in opposite a clear reason why it cannot be added there. and that is why I think it is not finally solved. Who knows, may-be somebody could found how to tweak this thing and may-be change something in files on our risk and finally it would appear in the Command List and thereafter it could be possible to add into quick access bar. Hope I am right.
