From time to time, When I activate the Mtext Editor, the ribbon gets very long, sometimes covering the entire work window. (See picture)
The only fix seems to be to shut down AutoCAD completely and then restart the session.
I'd think that it was just me, but it does it on occasion to every drafter in our department, and we've had this problem since the 2016 release.
Any idea what's going on and is there a fix?
Thanks!

I've seen it a couple of times, but until it is repeatable, restarting is the fix.
HI @mgporter,
I have not seen this before and I have been trying to duplicate the behavior. Perhaps this is caused by graphics drivers or screen resolution. If you can find steps that cause this to occur, please post back so I can get it logged with the Dev team.
HI @mgporter,
Since you are on AutoCAD 2016 and possibly Windows 10, there are some known issues with hi-res 4k displays. Which exact version of Windows are you running?
AutoCAD 2017.1 and newer product is designed to work with 4k screens. If you reduce the resolution on your screen (1920x1280) and change your font size in Windows to 100-125% does this problem come back?

I've never had a 4K monitor and I've seen this a few times. It happens so occasionally that I've just chalked it up to a minor cache issue of some sort.
Hi @RobDraw,
Thanks for the feedback - I will keep an eye out for more instances.
I can attest to this. After installing 2017 it happen frequently, but I added a line to my acaddoc.lsp file:
(Command "RibbonDockedHeight" "125")
The default value is 100, but I have a custom tab that uses 4 rows instead of the default 3 rows so I like my height a bit taller than normal.
That snippet of code seems to help as it only happens once a month or so for me now. When it happens, the only fix I have is to shut AutoCAD down and restart.
I've had someone else in the office ask about it as well. I use Civil 3D 2017, she uses Architecture 2017.
We both use Windows 7 Professional, screen resolution 1920x1080.
John,
I'm sorry, I wasn't clear on the issue.
We've had the same problem with 2016, 2017, and now with 2018.
Same problem, new software.
Every year, we hope that the problem is fixed, but so far... well you know.
I hope that Autodesk can find a solution to the problem.
Thanks!
Hi @mgporter,
Can you add the Ribbondockedheight to your Sysvarmonitor? It would be great to see if we can discover what is triggering the change.
It might also be interesting to see what happens if you set the value of RibbonDockedHeight to 0.
When this happens can you type in 100 for a value to get it to reset?
