Invalid Media Config !!

Invalid Media config stops me plotting , I've checked the setting , all correct and nothing changed over the last 2 years except I updated from A14 to A17 6 months ago !!

I have read that sometimes when printing to a previous plot the paper size will change yet retain the same dimensions. Try changing the paper size manually. i.e ANSI D is different than OCE D even though its the same size. I might also check to see if your plotter has updated a driver. 

What is your OS and you printer model?

Invalid Media means you are asking your printer/plotter for a paper size it does not have: nothing more.

Hi , that's not the case.

If I PDF the file ans print the same size to the same plotter then it plots fine. But it does not plot straight from AutoCAD !!!

Hi @Anonymous,

Pendean is correct. Paper sizes are determined by the print driver. So, while your PDF driver might have a specific paper size your printer might not.

Can you offer a bit more detail on what printer you are trying to print to and how you have configured your PC3/pagesetup?

This is very strange as it has never happened before unless some gremlins change setting over night..

I am trying to plot A2 to Xerox 7142 plotter using roll (A0) , I even changed it to A3 as u suggested but still no result.

Hi @Anonymous,

I suggest that you create a brand new PC3 file that points to the Xerox. Filter paper sizes as appropriate and make a new plot to see if this still occurs.

Can you please let us know which of the above suggestions you have tried and which result you have got?

Just saying "nothing helped" does not bring us into a situation to better know what happened in your system ... but that is needed to give valid suggestions.

E.g. what happened when you created a new PC3 ... ?

Let me also add 2 sentences to that statement from your first post:

There does not exist any single system on the world, based on Windows, that is unchanged for 2 years (except it is switched off)

As you installed AutoCAD 2017 a lot of system parts have changed, I would say hundreds of files are changed/added to the operating system with that installation. That means it is quite possible for you to update drivers as well (display, printer, plotter, ...)

As this happens on your system we need info's about your system. That's how we can try to help 😉

I am waiting for you to send me some files via eTransmit. Specifically, I want to see how you have configured your PC3 file. If you set up a new PC3 file from scratch I suspect it will remedy this issue but without seeing any of your files I can only guess.

I ran in to the same problem just now and I solved it with new PC3 file, I was planning to upgrade from A14 to newer version, i tried A16 and this issue didnt happen. But when i try A17, using the same DWT file same page setup, i got the invalid media config message. I moved on to John Vellek's suggestion and created new PC3 files leading to the same printer and it worked, then i deleted the old PC3 file and renamed the new PC3 file to the same name as the old one, it worked too. I run on win 10, canon ir-adv-c5045 printer.

Just realized that this issue has not really been solved. I created new pc3 files, and it only solved it on my station only, anyone else in the office with autocad 2017 or trueview 2018 will have the same "invalid media configuration" message which none of them will be able to print. For those with autocad 2014 the same file will work fine. I 'm running out of ideas on how to isolate this issue......

Hi @Anonymous,

The printer configuration files are going to be specific to version and to the hardware you installed. If you are sharing files with other users on the same network with the same devices you can also share the PC3 (and PMP files) so that they too will be able to eliminate the message
