Moving zoomed image into center of screen.

I have drawn a rectangle 3" x 1" in the center of the screen and want to zoom in to make it bigger . I 'zoom in' and now the rectangle is on the side of the screen, how do I get it back into the center?

Thanks,

Hi,

Use the command "zoom" and then type in "extents"

If you are using a mouse with a scroll wheel (which you definitely should), double click the mouse wheel. This is the shortcut to "zoom extents"

The Zoom command offers several options to accomplish your goal.

Zoom Center:

Select the center point either eyeball it or use the M2P osnap and pick two opposite corners to get the center of the rectangle. Then provide a magnification level. You can play with the numbers to get a feel for it.

Zoom Object: (if the rectangle is a polyline, AutoCAD will fill the screen with it in the center.)

Zoom Extents: (if the object is the only one in the drawing it will fill the screen with it centered)

Zoom Window: (pick the two opposite corners of the rectangle)

Zoom Previous: (if you were last zoomed to where you wanted to be, then Zoom Previous will take you right back)

There are even more options of the Zoom command to get familiar with.

There are so many ways to get it done. You could even save views and restore them.

Good luck and I hope some of this helps,
