Convert quad mesh to triangle mesh

I have tried to convert the quadratic mesh to triangle mesh. But It doesn't work. It only alerts error message. Does anyone know how to covert that. I also want to know how to convert quad mesh to hexagon or any polygon mesh. If autocad doesn't have ability to do that, please recommend the software that is appropriate for mesh design.
