Is there a way to avoid it doing this?

LOL, I guess I am dumber than I thought. I still cannot get it to do what I am needing it to as shown below:
Please upload a sample DWG (so I can see your DIMStyle settings).

Accepted solution
If you delete the dimension and create a new one then it works. (I don't know why you can't edit the existing dim's to get the wished result)
