I use the match properties command all the time, typically it's regarding the entities within the current drawing space.

I will select the first entity to copy from, then select the entity i want to copy to. My issue is that the cursor wants to grab the nearest entity before I get to select the item to copy to, typically an xref'ed drawing. How can I change the settings to NOT select the xref's or at least wait until I completely stop my cursor before it tries to select the second item?

Do you mean that objects are being changed before you actually select them?

Do you have Selection Preview turned on?

If this is not it, please try to illustrate the issue.

Read about the SELECTIONPREVIEW System Variable -- a different setting may be your answer.

Yes, selection preview is turned on. It wants to highlight the nearest entity before I get to the entity I want to match properties to. Most of the time it wants to highlight an xref, which takes a long time to highlight. I understand there are 4 possible settings for SELECTIONPREVIEW. I will try them and see if they help. i don't want to set it to zero, I just would like to not highlight xrefs.

In Visual Effect settings you can filter out XRefs. But I'm not sure if the issue is that the visual effect is on or if it's actually the Property preview that's the issue.

Visual effects? do you mean VISUALSTYLES or is this something else?

Nevermind, found it in OPTIONS

I shut off XREFS in the OPTIONS/SELECTION/VISUAL EFFECTS tab and now it working faster. Don't know if I call it a solution yet. I will play with it more in the coming weeks.
