Massprop command

Im having trouble using the mass prop command

I created a solid in fusion.  Imported into Autocad 2018.

Want to preform a massprop command to verify the center.

Placed the piece on 0,0,0

Enter Massprop on command line.

I select the part.   The text claims that one item has been found.

Yet  MASSPROP Select object:    remains in the command line.

I press enter....or I press space bar and the same answer comes up: No object found.

and no massprop screen appears with all the spec's

What am I doing wrong?

HI @Anonymous,

I would like to see the drawing  if you can attach it to a post. In fact if you have both the Fusion version as well as the AutoCAD file it would be nice to see both.

What MassProp characteristics are you interested in?  Perhaps they can also be captured in Fusion.

I am happy to take a look at this if I can duplicate the behavior.

I think I have the answer.    Autocad is not seeing the drawing as a solid.  (I dont know how to convert to a solid within Cad)

When I drew a cylinder in autocad directly and then asked for the massprop The answer came up immediately.

But being that this was created in Fusion , exported as a step file and then imported into AutoCad 2018 It somehow lost its properties.

The Autocad does "appear"as a 3-d drawing.

I am trying to balance an involute knife against a counterweight.

The "centroid" of the entire assembly will show up as x=0, y=0 z=0 (or close when the off balance contition is resolved.

I dont think this is in Fusion, hence the importing into Cad.

I will try to attach a drawing

Hi @Anonymous,

You are right that AutoCAD doesn't consider the knife a solid (only file I opened). The drawing is actually a block so if you explode it then Massprop works.

Yes, John,

Thank You

Very much appreciated.

Something else I discovered.

Fusion will also allow for the center of gravity of solid objects.

No need to export at all. This must have been a recent update.

In Fusion the command is Inspect and then Center of Mass.

But thank you greatly appreciated !
