Managing Layers / Layer Groups

Dear Fellow CAD Users,

I have been reorganizing my standard layers, because i created so much layers i organized them into layer groups. After organizing all my layers i found out it's not possible to export these layer groups. I have been googling for about a week and tried alot of different lisp routines to export and import my layergroups including layers.

I would like to build a lisp or macro that sorts my layers with a button on my toolpalette or automatically when i start my Autocad.

Do other people have problems with this, and how do people manage their layers when they have a lot?

Will the template file help with these groups of layers?

Well, i also do alot of revision work. If i create new drawings all the time that would work perfect, but i get my drawings from the Architect. I just do the electrical and lighting floor plans. So my blocks add alot of layers to the drawings, it would be perfect if a lisp or macro could sort them out every time.

hello, have you try this, saveas your file as .DWT (with your layer) > then go to options > file > template settings > browse your .DWT files and apply > ok. every time you open your autocad it will automatically see your created layer. thanks

Exporting Layers is not the problem, that works. I created layer groups that i want to export and import into other drawings including the layers.

I have tried these two lisps, the exporting into text files worked. Only when i wanted to import them into another drawing it did not work. The other lisp is to complicated for me, my knowledge of lisp is pretty basic.

Have you followed the instructions that are contained in the file LayerFilter.html?
In Autocad 2016 SP1 after loading the LayerFilter19.dll command FILTEXP working in the source drawing and FILTIMP in the new drawing working too.
