Making Font file and shape files.

Hi everyone,

1- I'm making a new shx font ( just to help us to write in Arabic ),

Every Arabic letter have many curves, I managed to draw our letters as splines and polylines, but now i'm asking what's the rightest thing to do:

Convert ( Spline ) letters into shapes (SHP), or convert ( polyline ) ones , or explode them then convert ??

2- When i convert any curve into SHP, it askes for resolution and the default is 128. when i keep it 128, the shape was not accurate.

When i use higher resolution, it become to be more accurate but the problem is that in the SHP file it use letter subshape and i don't know how to deal with that in turing the whole letters into SHX font.

How can i make the curve accurate and inside the limit without needing to use any subshape in the SHP file.

Thanks 🙂

Hello @Muhammed.OPERA!

Could you please attach a sample so that i can work with it? Perhaps one with a lot of arcs and splines. I need to brush up on the process a bit.

Thank You!

Thank you for sending a drawing for me to look at.

One thing that i remember doing is that i would convert the spline to a polyline.

Select the spline, stype SPLINEEDIT, then converttoPolyline option.

See if that makes it easier for you. I will look into working on the drawing you sent.

Yup , I used that command before (i said) , I tried to make SHAPE 3 times of ( Spline , Polylines , Lines ) .

The problem is that it's not accurate shape unless i use very high resolution.

Using high resolution No. makes the .SHP file consists of many subshapes , i don't know how to deal with subshapes into the SHX collection.

@Muhammed.OPERA,

Many apologies! I am encountering the same issues as you are. I am experimenting with different tweaks to the drawing and shape but they are proving fruitless.

It has been my pleasure. I can get it to work but i hit the same problem with the shapes as you. Perhaps we can get the developers involved to help. We are almost there!! Ill keep working on it and see if i hit a breakthrough.

Hi @Muhammed.OPERA,

I palyed with your file that you shared with me privately. On the lower part of the character I replaced the SPLINEs with simple arcs. I then used a resolution of 350 and it didn't turn out too bad.

Can you try this too? Or, send me your email privately so I can send you my file to look at.
