LTSCALE (Command) vs. Properties Linetype scale

Hello,

I recently saw someone use the LTSCALE command, which I was somehow unaware existed. I am used to changing the linetype scale under the properties window.

It seems as though both operate separately from one another. I ran a quick test where I drew a line with a DASHED linetype scale of 1.0 then I typed in the LTSCALE command and entered the number 2, which visually changed the linetype scale on my screen and when printed. However, that same line still shows a linetype scale of 1 under properties instead of 2. What am I missing here?

Thanks, Nick

LTSCALE is a global setting for the drawing and generally much preferred over changing the objects linetypescale.

LTSCALE is drawing properties variable and is applied to all linetypes and affects the entire drawing file. The properties line type scale is entity based and is a multiplier to the LTSCALE value.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

There are two other system variables that go along with the global LTSCALE.

MSLTSCALE (1=ON) will match the LTSCALE to the model space annotation scale.  If it is set to 1 and you change annotation scale, the linetype spacing will change to match when you regen.

PSLTSCALE (1=ON) is just like MSLTSCALE except it applies to viewports in paper space.

Hi there:

LTSCALE is also tied to the current "Annotation Scale" in Model Space, so you do not have to keep on adjusting manually at different Scales.

If you wish to see another visual example, try this on an unsaved DWG file:
Set DIMLFAC to 0.5 and replicate an existing dimension. It is basically the
same principle.

Thanks you all. Nick wrote: " I am used to changing the linetype scale under the properties window." That's what I have been doing also. Appreciate learning the other methods!
