I'm new to AutoCad having designed for many years on VectorWorks and SketchUp Pro.
I'm using AutoCad 2017 and am trying to find a DWG file with an outline of the State of Texas.
I am working on plans for a laser CNC metal fabricator who insists they must be drawn in AutoCad using Polylines.
I know I can import an image and trace it but was hoping someone else might have already done this.
Please help.
Thanks!
Joe

HI @Anonymous,
I grabbed an Adobe Illustrator one off the web and converted it to a DWG. I hope this works for you.

Here is Texas and 49 other smaller states. (I know what you are thinking, but open the file....)
C'mon R.K Alaska is a whole lot bigger than that.

A web search for something like "United States .DWG" will reveal a lot of sources, such as this. You might want to compare several, because they will no doubt have different levels of detail in the more convoluted parts [the coastline, the Rio Grande edge -- quite a difference between the images in Posts 2 & 6 here] -- depending on what you're using it for, a highly-detailed coastline may be much more than you need and therefore consume a lot more memory than necessary.
I apologize for the delayed response. My cable internet service has been down since yesterday afternoon. Houston has a long recovery after the damage from Harvey. (Obviously, the folks in Florida have just as much rebuilding from Irma.)
Thank you to everyone who responded. I really appreciate it. @pendean's attachment is exactly what I needed.
I did several Google searches before posting but didn't find what I needed or at least didn't recognize it as such.
With SketchUp Pro, there is a 3D Warehouse which is a repository for this type of drawing created by other users. Does Autocad have anything like this?
Also, is there a method I can learn to convert items from a PDF or JPG file to AutoCad?
Many thanks!
Joe
