Loading georeferenced ecw file

Can someone please advise how to load a georeferenced ecw file into autocad 2020. I have seen posts for other autodesk products, but I only have standard autocad 2020, and the ecw files I have come with .shp,.shx, dbdf and .prj files. I assume the .prj files contain the georeferencing information. I have set up autocad to be on the correct coordinates. Do I attach the ecw file? Because when I do it loads to 0,0.

please assist

thanks

Sorry, plain vanilla AutoCAD cannot georeference an ecw image. To georef an ecw you'll need either Map3D or Civil3D. If you open an ecw in vanilla AutoCAD you'll need to (1) scale it, (2) rotate it and (3) move it so it 'fits' your drawing environment and looks good when compared to the other objects sitting in modelspace.

Here's an ECW thread from the Map 3D forum.

If you are on subscription (aka still paying Autodesk every year), then MAP3D is free for you to download/install/use for this exact need. Ask your boss for access.

If you have a world file for it (.eww), you can use the GeoRefImg freeware utility for georeferenced insert. See https://www.cadstudio.cz/georefimg and https://apps.autodesk.com/ACD/en/Detail/Index?id=7718964543906860174&appLang=en&os=Win32_64
