Layers not publishing

Hi,

I have a drawing in which I have used another dwg file as an Xref. I have 10 layouts or sheets from which I want to create the PDF. When I select all the 10 layouts and give publish command some layers of the Xref file does not plot. But when I print individual layout by CTRL+P everything prints fine (all the 10 layouts). I have tried a lot of layers and page setup solutions but nothing works. Can anyone help me with this weird issue?

I am not finding any difference when I publish or when plotting individual layouts. Check the attachment I have included the published PDF and individual layout PDF as well.

I assume that you are talking about the few layers which are set to no plot and these layers will not be plotted to PDF.

See screenshot. Try to set it to plot so that those layers are also plotted in PDF🙂

Hi,

Are you using your specific plotter? Because I am printing using XYZ-2017.ctb (which is included in the zip file). I tried again and the result is the same. Also, I do not need the layers which are set to no plot. I have attached the pdf for my printing results using the same ctb setting.

As a test, only a test, stop using Adobe Distiller as your PDF driver, and use one of the built-in PDF drivers listed in PUBLISH command's pop-up, see if there is much of a different in output.

Hi, was there ever a working solution to this issue?  I am having the same problem; when plotted one sheet at a time, all layers are printed.  When publishing several layouts, not all of the layers plot.

On the two attachments, compare sheet 01; plotted by itself, and published as part of a set.

Do you get the same results using EXPORTPDF or the other ways to PUBLISH (thru Sheet Set Manager, Print>Batch Plot, File Publish, ect...)?

Thanks Emilio.  I wasn't sure if you were replying to me, or to the original post.  If you are replying to me, I am using Autocad 2021.  Again, the issue is that is plots fine when plotting a single page, but not when publishing multiple pages.  EXPORTPDF plots just one page.  In 2021, there is no Print/Batch Plot, is there?  File/Publish takes me to the same dialog box that I used when I right-clicked and selected "Publish Selected Layouts."  Same results; missing layers.

I did notice something odd; while it's publishing, if I look at my XREF dialog box, it shows warning/Not Found for some of the nested XREFs.  But before and after publishing, it shows all the XREFs as Loaded.

I suggest you AUDIT the file and all the xrefs.

Also, delete your existing "DWG To PDF.pc3" and make a new one.

As a note, I don't use EXPORTPDF, but based on the Autodesk Help it says EXPORTPDF "Generates a PDF file from a single layout, all layouts, or a specified area in model space."

Did also happen to notice if the layers in question are XREF layers?

Thanks Emilio.  I audited and purged everything yesterday.  Same result.  Today, I replaced the  "DWG To PDF.pc3".  Same result.  EXPORTPDF.  Thanks for pointing that out.  Tried that.  Same result.

Yes, the missing layers are XREF layers.  But I checked, and all correct layers are thawed and set to plot.

My coworker can open the same file and publish everything correctly.

It appears that the XREF message is telling you why those layers are not printing. Something is preventing them from being loaded but I have no idea what.

Thanks Rob.  We tried Binding the nested XREFs, and that worked.  It's not a great solution, since we would prefer to have the XREFs update automatically, but at least it's a solution.  Thanks for your help.

Check your XREF Layer States

I just came un with this same problem and realized my xref layer state was different than my viewport layer state. In the viewport I had the desired layers turned on but in the xref those layers where turned off. I had to turn on all layers on the xref and the apply my desired layer states in each viewport and it worked.
