I've just installed the latest AutoCAD 2019 update and the appearance of my layer drop down has changed.
It used to match the appearance of the layer properties box like this:
But now it looks like this:
Is this correct?

Sorry for not being clear.
I was referring to the appearance of the icons.

Autodesk has updated most of their icons in the 2019 release for reasons stated here.
Whether it is an improvement or not, is still being debated among AutoCad users. I personally see no problem with it.

Hi,
I have seen similar posts in other threads on the change of the icons.
1. Turn off GRAPHICSCONFIG
2. Reset to defaults settings
3. Change Visual Style in 2d wire frame
4. Check windows Resolution
5. Update Graphic card
6. System requirements for AutoCAD 2019

It just seems odd that the drop down icons don't match the dialog box icons. Why change one, but not the other?

I think it's that they're missing the black outline that makes them look indistinct.

Its in line with the broad changes in UI aesthetics. its not specific to Autodesk. Flat design really started to gain speed recently (2013) when apple went that way. Its all over the MS office suit. Different elements of the AutoCAD UI went to the Flat style at different times. The Status Bar has been in the style for a while. I personally think its the ghost of Patrick Nagel stuck in our computers (JK)

That still doesn't explain why it doesn't match the icons in the layer properties dialog. Why change one and not the other?
