Labeling an Area in Layout to then Search and Find in Layout

I am building racks in my facility's layout and I want to include the rack location. I have the rack built in 3D, with the different shelf layers. I want to be able to assign a shelf location with an ID in order to look it up and locate in my layout. So for example the id could go off of which rack its on, the column its on, and then the shelf layer.

I attached a picture of the little shelf i built, i used hatches to fill in the shelf layer. So purple on the bottom is considered shelf "a". so lets say this rack is referenced as Rack 'Z", and its the first rack on the right, so its given 1 so id would be Z.1.a

is there anything in autocad that could help with this? i tried looking into blocks but i dont think i understand the functionality of blocks enough to use.

thanks for any help!

Hi @grramire,

Seems like you could do this with Mleaders or attributes using the Find or Quick Select functionality.

All the best,
