Keeping track of drawings

I work at a facility that had created their own database to keep track of every drawing and every design job ever created.

It used MS Access, and would import data from title blocks to update the drawing database.

This worked great, until Autodesk moved away from VisualBasic; the creator of the software (someone here at the facility) didn't want to learn another programming language.

Is there a decent program out there to keep track of the drawings in this database (and others as they're created?) or is this when we tap into our local university and ask someone in computer science to create a program?

Thoughts or ideas?

What do you want to keep track "of" specifically?

You can still use VBA. It's just a separate download.
