I would select the poly lines, type "join", hit enter.
We can't tell from the images what is part of the Polylines in question. That's one reason a .DWG file would help.
its not a polyline issue but more an Autocad setting I believe.
When i try to join a series of poly lines, the join command alters the overall line,
Appears to be an unusual issue as no has encountered it before

Please show us the drawing before you ran command _JOIN.
I'm close to say "impossible that AutoCAD changes the vertex order or the segments of the source entities when running _JOIN" ... but your drawing will show us what really happens. The screenshot does not show us e.g. if the small segment going upwards and back ... it could be double objects or maybe defect object.

JOIN command can change the vertex order, depend on the selection AND direction order of selected object.
This is why i asked Kevin for his DWG,
i like to tell him what happened in his case (and not in 15 other cases)

Hi,
>> change the vertex order
Yes, but not a connection 1-2-3 from the source polyline to 1-3-2 in the destination object.

I see it the same way, all the more exciting is the information that cannot be obtained from a jpeg.
share your data. In any case, it is also related to your object data.
(I can draw 1000 polyline and no one will change the shape, so we need your data for a check and to compare the result)
