ISO 2006 copy and paste fix.

Anonymous
Not applicable

I'm having copy / paste issues with Autocad 2006, and I came across a Dec. 2006 post in a forum saying it had been fixed.  But the link provided does not seem to be viable and it appears Autodesk does not support 2006 anymore,

so does anyone know where to get this fix?

Your help is greatly appreciated,

D.

p.s this was the link.

2006 is a dead product at Autodesk: looks like they have no patches or updated older than AutoCAD2010 from what I can find.

What is the issue? It happens a lot when trying to copy from a file that has been touched by a newer version.

Hi,

>> I'm having copy / paste issues with Autocad 2006

You might use commands

  • _WBLOCK to save your objects to copy to a new file
  • _INSERT to insert this new file into the other dwg-file.

It seems that's the case. I was just hoping that a patch or fix would have been saved on some other site by someone with some foresight.

My "_VERNUM"  is Z.54.10.

And this is the specific issue: I use Intellicad with Carlson Civil/Survey 2014 to create a drawing, just a simple circle, and then save it back to AutoCaD 2004. I try to copy / paste, or wblock that circle out of that drawing, and I can not.  When trying to wblock I get a message " wblock operation rejected due to a proxy object that does not allow copying"

I was told by Carlson support that ICAD 2014 does not create 3D objects.

I was successful with a newer AutoCad Map 3D 2009.

Proxy objects will interfere with copy/paste operations unless you have the object enablers for Carlson if they are available. The fix is in properly converting the file to the appropriate format.

The solution may be in the export process from Carlson. If that is not available to you, try Drawing TrueView, free from AutoDesk, to convert the file(s).

I should clarify. After making the drawing in Intellicad 2014 and saving it, I can not copy / paste out of that drawing with AutoCad 2006.

I hope that helps.

It seems that it might be IntelliCad specific. Because I tried this:

I could copy / paste out a drawing, that was created with IntelliCad 2014, with AutoCad Map 3D 2009, but not with AutoCad 2006.

Then I created drawing with AutoCad Map 3D 2009, saved it back to version 2004 and the I WAS able to copy / paste out of the drawing with AutoCad 2006.

So the AutoCad 2006 works just not with IntelliCad 2014.

If I tried converting with Trueview, would it not be the same as "saving back to an older version"?

thanks for the help.

No, absolutely not. TrueView converts newer objects and features so that they are usable in the target version. "Save as" does not.

Hi,

reading this:

  • AutoCAD 2006
  • Carlson Civil/Survey 2014
  • AutoCaD 2004
  • Intellicad 2014
  • AutoCad Map 3D 2009
  • TrueView (guess current version)

Have you ever thought about that a data traveling through all these products is already a limiter to itself?

Working with dwg-format with 10 years and 10 releases of development differences might work, if your data goes upwards, but downwards (from newer dwg-format to older one) is always critical with the risk to damage your data or to lose your data. I can only suggest to think about that and do not use such a mixture of product releases and also product vendors.

Yes, good point to ponder. I just do not have the luxury to upgrade everyone concerned. Some people just want to hang on to what they have, for as long as possible.

That's why I thought that if I could find the patch / fix that was posted about on this forum in Dec. 2006, it might solve the problem.

Doubtful, since it's the workflow and versioning that is causing the issue.

You never do say or spell out what that magic fix is, so what is it? Your link seems dead here.

I did find this page that still seems live https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/downloads/caas/downloads/content/autocad-2006-service...

I do not have the fix. I just found this post and thought it might help. And I'm beginning to think not

since the copy / past command works, just not with IntelliCad 2014.

Thanks for your link.

Unfortunately It did not mention anything about this copy / paste command.

Re: copy command and paste command is not working in AutoCAD 2006
A known issue with a fix that's been out since the summer

http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/item?siteID=123112&id=7460005&linkID=2475323

Updating 2007 to SP1 should also fix it.
