Is dedicated graphics needed for AutoCad 2020 if Im only doing 2d work ?

Hi everyone, I hope everyone is staying safe, this is my first post sorry If my English is not at its best

So is as simple as what the title says, I'm thinking about building a new computer, mostly for 2D drawings and sketching, so I went to a place and the guy told me I should get an I7 9700k  (which I think is ok) but he also included an ASUS Gt 1030 2GB, which I'm kind of sceptical about it, because I know it's not a great graphics card, kind of outdated I think, and I know that is not certified by Autodesk to work with AutoCAD. I´ve seen in many forums that people only talk about 3D AutoCad and renders and so on, which gets a benefit from a discrete graphics card such as 1030. But if I'm only doing 2D work, is that the case? If not, would it be fine If I just go with the integrated graphics, the I7 9700K I'm considering comes with intel HD 630 graphics I think

If anyone wonders, the rest of the pc is as it goes:

Singlestick of 8gb 2666MHZ

1TB Western Digital Blue 3.5 SATA 7200 64MB

SSD M.2 240 GB KINGSTON A400

Asus prime B365M-A M-ATX

Intel Core I7 9700k

GAMEMAX 500WTS 80PLUS power supply

Thanks for reading me

i think there will be no issue on that if you are just doing 2D work, you can go to GRAPHICSCONFIG command and switch off. thanks

Hi @Anonymous

You can work on 2D using the integrated graphics. There is no requirement of buying the graphic card if you are not working on 3D. But I would suggest increasing the RAM to 16Gb instead of 8gb.

I have earlier worked on 2D( drawing size of more than 60Mb)and basic 3D on AutoCAD using the integrated graphic, i5 processor, and 16 gb RAM. Since you have the SSD as well you can use that for AutoCAD for better performance🙂
