OK, i don't know where should i actually start and then i start with hello, how r u?

I solved some interview's questions which they can be found in the internet, but i don't know that my answers are true or not. so i share them here and if there weren't true you correct them for me, thank you.

also i think i must mention that i want to find a job about Autocad, i'm a civil engineer, i can work with Autocad , i actually make plans and etc but these questions are really hard and don't know that i can answer them or not if i face with new questions that they will ask me in my interview, if you give me a resource that i can read that resource, then i become sure that after reading that i can answer interview's questions that would be a huge help.

you know the problem is that English isn't my native language and what we learnt about Autocad was in another language and the type of education was different from general type or international type of educating Autocad, so i think that's the reason that i can't answer these questions easily while i know about Autocad.

just do me a favor and take a look at the questions and if you are an old in Autocad you will know what should i read, best regards

screenshot is about an architecture's plan that i draw it to share it here for you to see my ability to drawing a plan, it's not good but i think it is good that they hire me as a person who have 1year xp in autocad, right?

Q- 1 Do you know which one of the following key combinations will toggle coords?

This questin has no options.

The answer is ctrl+ I.

I don’t know about croods and if you explain more about it that’s your generous. And ofcourse I always red about anything that I don’t know in autocad help so don’t link it here. I red that it wasn’t enough, I didn’t get that.

Q- 2 Which one of the following is the maximum number of layers which can be defined in an autocad drawing?

This questin has no options. (exactly like Q12)

Q- 3 and Q- 29 are same.

Q- 4 When using the SOLVIEW command on a blank PS layout which sub command should be issued first and why?

(a) UCS World because you have to start somewhere.

(b) UCS World because the world UCS is the only one available.

(c) Ortho because each view is to 90° to the other.

(d) Aux because one can line up the view more accurately.

I think the answer is option (a).

But if you explain what is sloview and what the question wants and also some describe about options I will thank you.

Q- 5 When constructing an AutoCAD Solid Model the UCS command is used to

(a) Draw more accurately

(b) Draw Solid Objects

(c) Rotate Solid Objects

(d) Define a new Drawing Plane

I have no idea about this. I don’t know what’s the solid model?! Also I don’t know about ucs.

Q- 6 In a Windows dialogue box, moving from one field to another is achieved by which of the following key combinations?

(a) Ctrl+ [Tab]

(b) Alt+ [Tab]

(d) Sets Up the paper size, margins and orientation

I think the answer is option b.

If you describe otions that would be a good help from you.

Q- 9 Why does AutoCAD allow you more than one layout?

(a) Different output devices.

(b) Different sizes of output.

(c) Different output orientation .

(d) All of the above.

I think the answer is option d?!

Q- 10 AutoCAD has had the dreaded Model Space and Paper Space since R12. What is the main advantage of the system?

(a) It confuses students

(b) It converts 2D drawings to 3D

(c) It enables the CAD operator to set the scale of the

(d) It saves space because it requires fewer layers.

I don’t know nor about the question nor about options. What is the draeded model space?!

Q- 11 Which one of the following commands can be used to obtain information about a selected object?

(a) ID

(b) LIST

(d) STATUS

The answer is option b.

Q- 12 Which one of the following is the maximum number of layers which can be defined in an AutoCAD

drawing?

(a) 64

(b) 128

(c) 256

(d) UNLIMITED

The answer is probably the option (d) which is [unlimited]

I red one time that the limit is 32767 but also red that it depends actually to the free RAM that system has and every layer take 15kb so…

Q- 13 The effect of freezing a layer is to?

(a) make it invisible and prevent regeneration

(b) make it invisible but allow regeneration

(c) allow visibility and regeneration

(d) display the layer but prevent editing of it

the answer is option (a).

Q- 14 Which of the following shapes CANNOT be drawn by the polygon command?

(a) Square

(b) Hexagon

(c) Rectangle

(d) Equilateral triangle

the answer is option (c).

Q- 15 Which one of the following statements is False?

(a) Plines can be filled but not outlined.

(b) Plines can have either a consistent width or varying widths.

(c) Plines can be made from lines and arcs.

(d) Plines can be smoothed.

I think the answer is option (d).

What is smooth?

(a) anti clockwise direction

(b) clockwise direction

(c) horizontal direction

(d) shortest direction

Option a is the answer.

Q- 17 Which one of the following is the BEST procedure for drawing a line from the point of intersection of a line and a circle?

(a) Select the LINE command and then use object snap with the INS option.

(b) Select the LINE command and then use object snap with the INT option.

(c) Set a small SNAP value then select the LINE command and SNAP.to the intersection

(d) Zoom in on the intersection, then select the LINE command and click the LH mouse button for the start point.

Option b is the answer.

Q- 18 One effect of setting the value of MIRRTEXT=0 is that?

(a) text is displayed but not mirrored

(b) text is displayed as a mirror

(c) text is not displayed

(d) only text can be mirrored

Option a is the answer.

Q- 19 Which one of the following commands can be used to change the value of a system variable?

(a) CHANGE

(b) DIMVAR

(c) SELECT

(d) SETVAR

The answer is option (d)

And just for fun lets check the other options. Option a will use to change properties of an object that already drawn.

Option (b) is not a command.

Option c is for selecting.

Q- 20 Which of the following system variables controls the accuracy of approximation of a spline curve?

(a) SPLFRAME

(b) SPLINEFIT

(c) SPLINESEGS

(d) SPLMODE

Answer: c

Because setvar option (a) is using for:

If we set it zero then, does not display polygon for helixs

Display smoothed mesh objects if they have been smoothed

Does not display the invisible dges of 3D faces or polyface meshes.

If we set it one

Displays the control polygon for helixes

Displays unsmoothed mesh objects, even if they have been smoothed.

Displays the edges of 3D faces and polyface meshes.

And the other options are nonescense except option (c) which is SPLINESEGS and it can be a nomber between -32767 to 32767 and it controls the accuracy of approximation of a spline curve.

(can not set it to 0, I just checked it. ;))

Q- 21 The system variable SPLINETYPE determines?

(a) whether the 'curve' option of the PEDIT command produces a spline curve or a fit curve

(b) whether editing functions are performed on the spline curve or on it's controlling frame

(c) the accuracy of approximation of a spline curve

(d) whether a spline curve is a quadratic b-spline or cubic b-spline

The answer is option (d) which is [whether a spline curve is a quadratic b-spline or cubic b-spline].

Because when we run splinetype we will find out there is two accepted value that we can insert which is 5 and 6.

5 represent quadratic b-spline.

6 represent cubic b-spline.

Q- 22 Which one of the following system variables determines the visibility of the control points of a pline spline curve?

(a) SPLFRAME

(b) SPLMODE

(c) SPLINESEGS

(d) SPLINEVIEW

I think the answer is option (b).

Q- 23 Which one of the following allows the value of the system variable PICKBOX to be changed whilst in the ERASE command?

(a) SETVAR pickbox or PICKBOX

(b) 'SETVAR pickbox or 'PICKBOX

(c) 'SELECT

(d) CHANGE

The answer is option (b) which is [‘setvar pickbox or ‘pickbox]

Because I checked it.

Q- 24 If the system variable MIRRTEXT is set to 1, text is     (similar to Q18)

(a) mirrored

(b) not mirrored

(c) not reproduced in the mirror image

(d) mirrored and reversed

The answer is option (d) which is [mirrored and reversed]

Cause I checked it.

Q- 25 The SETVAR command is used to?       (similar to Q19)

(a) configure the program settings to suit the various hardware devices

(b) configure AutoCAD for use with a tablet menu

(c) create an 'object set' for editing

(d) change the values of the system variables

The answer is option (d).

Q- 26 Which one of the following is a correct statement regarding AutoCAD blocks?

(a) Blocks can only be inserted into a drawing if they already exist in that drawing.

(b) A block can have no more than ten attributes.

(c) The insert command looks first within the drawing for blocks and then to the disk.

(d) Every block has to have at least one attribute.

The answer is option (c) which is [the insert command looks first within the drawing for blocks and then to the disk].

Actually I don’t know what the hell option c is talking about and if you help me to understand it that’s your favour but I checked the others option and if we look at option (a) it is not ture because we can insert blocks that we already make before with helping of wblock.

Oiption (b) is false because I tested it and a block could have more than 10 attributes so…

Option (d) told a nonesence alia too.

Q- 27 Which one of the following methods should be used to repeat a complex part in a drawing in order to minimise file size?

(a) use the COPY command

(b) use the MIRROR command

(c) use the ARRAY command

(d) create a BLOCK then use INSERT

The answe is option (d) which is [creat a block and then use insert].

Because when we use block we can insert it in another drawing also it minimum size of disk and RAM.

Q- 28 The use of blocks allows libraries of standard parts to be developed and saved for later use. Blocks may be stored

(a) on disk.

(b) on disk, CDROM and the Internet.

(c) on disk and CDROM.

(d) on disk and the Internet.

The answer is option (b) which is [on disk, CDROM and the internet]

Because when we creat a block with wblock (which is the case of this question) it became a data and can be storage everywhere even in cloud. So…

Q- 29 The effect of the EXPLODE command when applied to a block is to? (exactly like Q3)

(a) reduce a block to it's constituent entities to allow editing.

(b) return a block to it's created scale and rotation.

(c) allow the editing of a block with different X,Y factors.

(d) place constituent entities all onto the current layer.

The answer is option (a).

Q- 30 What is the significance of using the command WBLOCK?

(a) WBLOCK only works on blocks.

(b) the block is written to disk and can be used later in other drawings.

(c) the block is written to the current drawing file only, saving disk space.

(d) the block can have attributes written to it later.

The answer is option (b) which is [the block is written to disk and can be used later in other drawings].

Because if we look at option (a) we will find out that that It said nonesence alia. And about option c the problem is the definition and usage of wblock is straight opposite of what it said and the option c is definintion of block not wblock.

The option d is false too because bot block and wblock can have attributes.

Q- 31 Which one of the following best defines attributes as used in AutoCAD and defined by the command DDATTDEF.

(a) Text entities that can link to a database.

(b) Special text entities within a block.

(c) Text entities that use an alternative font.

(d) Special text entities.

The answer is option (b) which is [special text entities whithin a block].

Attributes in autocad is a text that we can verify the value of it every time we insert a block. Normally we use it with a rectangle, circle and etc so make a blog with attribute and that rectangle.

Q- 32 Which one of the following system variables disables the prompt which asks for attribute values, and causes attributes to be set to their defaults?

(a) ATTDIA

(b) ATTDISP

(c) ATTPROMPT

(d) ATTREQ

The answer is option (a) which is [attdia].

Because I just tested all options.

Q- 33 The following two commands used one after the other BOUNDARY then pick inside an area ERASE ALL R LAST produces which of these results

(b) Calculates the area of the boundary and erases all the construction lines

(c) Draws a polyline that touches the extremes of the area then erases all the recently drawn lines

(d) Draws a polyline that touches the extremes of the area then erases all but that polylin

I think the answer is option (d).

Q- 34 The "select object" option "Previous" is best described by

(a) Picks the single object drawn by the previous command

(b) Picks the previous drawn single object

(c) Picks the previously picked group of objects

(d) Picks the previous object in a Window or Crossing selection

The answer is option (c).

Q- 35 When using the move command to move a single object by a given distance, which is the best of the following methods?

(a) Set osnap to END, pick the object, pick a base point then pick on the end of another object

(b) Pick the object then key in the relative distance that it is to be moved

(c) Pick the object then key in the absolute distance that it is to be moved

(d) Pick the object, key in 'END' key in 'END' again then pick on the end of another object

I don’t understand nor the question nor the answer.

Q- 36 There are at least eleven options to the "select objects" prompt. Which of the following has an incorrect option?

(a) W WP R

(b) C CP F

(c) L ALL E

(d) P SI A

The answer is option (c).

w represent Window. WP represent Window Polygon. R represent Remove. C represent Cross. CP represent Cross Polygon. F represent Fence. L represent Last. ALL represent all. P represent Previous. SI represent Single. A repesent Add.

But E represent nothing.

Q- 37 The shape above is based on a 10 unit module. which is the correct set of codes to draw this shape, starting at the lower left and moving anti clock wise

(a) 0,0 10,0 @Anonymous<45 10,10 0,20 0,30 c

(b) 0,0 10,0 @Anonymous,10 10,10 @0,20 0,30 c

(c) 0,0 @Anonymous<0 20,10 10,10 10,30 30,0 c

(d) 0,0 @Anonymous,0 @Anonymous,10 10,10 0,20 0,30 c

Unfortunately we havent the shape .

(a) @Anonymous,30 @Anonymous<120

(b) 1500<30 @Anonymous<90

(c) @Anonymous<30 @Anonymous<90

(d) @Anonymous<30 @Anonymous<120

I think refer to the question and the options answer should be option b but I can not find a difference between option a and b also I don’t understand the relation between the question and the options because in the question it talk about two lines which they make  degree together but in the option wh have two points co-ordinate. So?!!

Q- 40 Which one of the following is an AutoCAD relative polar co-ordinate

(b) @81,30

(c) 30<81

(d) @81<30

The answer is option b.

Q- 41 To continue drawing a line from the last known point, enter

(a) 0,0

(b) @

(c) Next

(d) a or b

The answer is option b.

Q- 42 When drawing a digital watch measuring 30mm x 25mm, which one of the following would be the BEST set of drawing limits to use?

(a) 0,0/40,35

(b) 0,0/30,25

(c) 0,0/100,100

(d) 0,0/297,210

I don’t know what is watch measuring, so I cant tell 30mm x 25mm is a corner of a rectangle or what, but if it is a corner of a rectangle so option b is the answer.

Q- 43 Which one of the following is an AutoCAD absolute point co-ordinate?

(a) @361,270

(b) 60<90

(c) 361,270

(d) None of the above

The answer is option c.

Q- 44 The position of a mouse on a surface is NOT directly related to the position of the screen cursor. This makes the mouse unsuitable for

(a) Selecting two points on the screen for a line draw operation.

(b) Tracing an existing drawing.

(c) Selecting menu items on the screen.

(d) Sketching.

I have no idea about this.

Q- 45 Absolute co ordinates are measured from the

(a) current UCS origin.

(b) last point entered.

(c) lower left hand corner as set by LIMITS command.

I think the answer is option (d), which wasn’t in the list of questions that I recived and it should be something like this:the absolute (0,0). Because Absolute only works with zero of co-ordinate not the others.

Q- 46 Which one of the following best describes a "user co-ordinate System"?

(a) The pair of co-ordinate points which define the lower left and upper right corners of the drawing boundary

(b) A series of co-ordinate points stored as variables for later use in the drawing

(c) A co-ordinate system whose origin is located anywhere in three dimensional space

(d) The master datum from which all measurements are taken.

I think the answer is option (a), which is [The pair of co-ordinate points which define the lower left and upper right corners of the drawing boundary].

But the problem is that I think option a is definitaion of limits and I also don’t know what is user co-ordinate? A user can define a co-ordinate?!

Q- 47 When designing an integrated circuit measuring 5mm x 5mm the measurements should be entered using a scale of

(a) 1:1

(b) 1:2

(c) 1:10

(d) 1:5

I have no guess for the answer because I couldn’t understand nor the question nor the options. So if you help to get these out that’s a huge favor of you.

extension. This can be renamed as a .DWG at a later date.

(d) When a drawing is saved for the second time a backup copy is made with

a .BAK extension. This can be renamed as a .DWG at a later date.

the answer is option (c), which is [When a drawing is initially saved a backup copy is made with a .BAK

extension. This can be renamed as a .DWG at a later date.]

Q- 51 Which of the following key combinations issues the ISOPLANE command?

(a) SHORT-CUT.TXT

(b) ACAD.COM

(c) ACAD.PGP

(d) ACAD.EXE

I don’t know what even s/he is talking about, so if you help me well, that’s your kindness. And if you give me a resource that I would can answers these types of question by reading that, that’s magnificent.

Q- 53 Which one of the following key combinations is a standard windows short cut that does not relate to the clipboard.

(a) Ctrl+ S

(b) Crtl+ X

(c) Ctrl+ V

(d) Ctrl+ C

I think the answer is option (a), which is [Ctrl+ S].

I should say, I couldn’t understand what the question asked me and If you describe that is best way to help me but; when I tried the options in the autocad always wrote some words in the messages that those messages included word “clip” except ctrl+s, for ctrl+s there was no word “clip” in the message so I thought that’s the answer.

Q- 54 The line types definitions are stored on the system with an extension of?

(a) .LTT

(b) .LSP

(c) .LIN

(d) .LAT

I don’t know what even s/he is talking about, so if you help me well, that’s your kindness.

Q- 55 Which one of the following could be an AutoCad drawing file?

(a) DWG.PLAN

(b) PLAN.DWG

(c) DRAW.FLE

(d) FILE.TXT

the answer is option (b), which is [PLAN.DWG].

because, it is what it is, that was an easy question.

(a) HDX

(b) SHP

(c) SHX

(d) TXT

I don’t know what even s/he is talking about, so if you help me well, that’s your kindness. And if you give me a resource that I would can answers these types of question by reading that, that’s magnificent.

Q- 57 The special character string that is used to print the diameter sign is

(a) %%c

(b) %%d

(c) %dia

(d) c%%

I don’t know what even s/he is talking about, so if you help me well, that’s your kindness.

Q- 58 When is a space NOT interpreted as the enter key?

(a) When entering text.

(b) When using the PEDIT command.

(c) When selecting objects.

(d) The space is always an alternative to the enter key.

I think the answer is option (a), which is [When entering text].

Because, its clear that in the text there is difference between space and enter that space will make space while enter will send us to the next line.

Q- 59 Which of the following commands will NOT place some form of text within the drawing

(a) MTEXT

(b) DTEXT

(c) STYLE

(d) ATTDEF

I think the answer is option (c), which is [STYLE].

Because, the option a definitely gives us a text also option b. so answer is option c or d. option d will give us text too and u should google it if you don’t know how, so the answer is option c.

Q- 60 The text option that prompts the user for two endpoints and then automatically calculates the text height and positions the text between the two points is chosen from this AutoCAD prompt Align/Fit/Center/Middle/Right/TL/TC/TR/ML/MC/MR/BL/BC/BR Which one is correct?

(a) Center

(b) Align

(c) TR

(d) Fit

I think the answer is option (b), which is [Align].

Because, tbh, I thought the answer is fit at the first, but then I tried it in autocad and turns out that fit actually ask you about height!

Q- 61 The effect of QTEXT being ON is to?

(a) place text directly in the drawing as defined

(b) speed up drawing regeneration by replacing text with rectangles

(c) use simplified text font to replace complex text font

(d) allow automatic line spacing of textual input

I think the answer is option (b), which is [speed up drawing regeneration by replacing text with rectangles].

Because I red this:

When QTEXT (Quick Text) is turned on, each text and attribute object is displayed as a bounding box around the text object. Turning QTEXT mode on reduces the time it takes to regenerate drawings that contain many text objects. Use the REGEN command to display the results of QTEXT on existing text.

Q- 62 Which of the following is an AutoCAD font for mathematical symbols?

(a) MATHC

(b) MATHFONT

(c) MATHSYM

(d) SYMATH

I think the answer is option (d), which is [SYMATH].

Q- 63 The special character string that causes text to be underlined is

(a) u%%

(b) %%u

(c) %u%

(d) %u

I think the answer is option (b), which is [%%u].

Because simply I just tried it.

Q- 64 What option would be selected following the TEXT command to select a different type of text to that currently in use?

 (b) FONT

(c) SET

(d) STYLE

I think the answer is option (d), which is [style].

Because first of all when I write command text (which is the single line text I think and we could bring it simply by “dt”) it was only two options; one was justify and the other was style and now its clear the answer only can be (d).

Q- 65 A house measures 15000 mm x 8000 mm in plan view. When drawing the plan view only which one of the following sets of limits would be BEST to use?

(a) 0,0/20000,15000

(b) 0,0/20,15 metres

(c) -2000,-2000/20000,15000

(d) -2000,-2000/15000,8000

I think the answer is option (a), which is [0,0/20000,15000].

But I couldn’t understand the difference between options (a) and (b)?! if I was in exam I didn’t know which one should I choose, so if you please help me!!

Q- 66 How many entity colours does AutoCAD support?

(a) 255

I actually don’t know the answer, it mabe be (a) because I heard about 256 colors which it near to option (a).

Q- 67 When using AutoCAD for the design of a mechanical component measuring 1000 mm by 500 mm, the dimensions would normally be entered at a scale of?

(a) 1:1

(b) 1:2

(c) 1:5

(d) 1:10

I think the answer is option (b), which is [1:2].

Becaue its simple: 1000/500= 2.

Q- 68 In order for the grid command to work correctly two settings have to be established.

(a) The correct limits set and an appropriate setting of the grid value set

(b) Limits set to ON and an appropriate setting of the grid value set

(c) Snap and Osnap set

(d) Gridmode and osmode both set to 1

I have no guess for the answer because I couldn’t understand nor the question nor the options. So if you help to get these out that’s a huge favor of you.

Q- 69 Which one of the following BEST defines a "prototype" or "template" drawing?

(a) the drawing which is currently being edited by AutoCAD

(b) a drawing used to store a library of standard symbols

(c) a means of setting the initial drawing environment for new drawings

(d) a file which holds details of the display, digitiser, and plotters that AutoCAD is currently configured for

I think the answer is option (c), which is [a means of setting the initial drawing environment for new drawings].

Because of the world initial actually I choosed it.

Q- 70 When producing a drawing of a site plan measuring 300m x 275m dimensions should be entered to a scale of?

(a) 1:1

(b) 1:10

(c) 1:100

(d) 1:1000

I think the answer is option (d), which is [1:1000].

Because if I choose 1:100 it means every meter should represent 100 meter in the reality but if I use 1:1000 every 10 cm represnet 100 meter which in this case 300 meter would draw by 30 cm so I can print it in A3 paper maybe?!!

Q- 71 Which one of the following commands can be used to turn the grid through 45 degrees ?

(a) axis

(b) grid

(c) rotate

(d) ucs

I think the answer is option (d), which is [ucs].

The reason is becoz I just tried all of the options. J

Q- 72 Which one of the following commands would be used to limit the movement of the cursor to specified increments?

(a) axis

(b) grid

(c) ortho

(d) snap

I think the answer is option (d), which is [snap].

Because when we turn on snap cursor only moves on grids. My problem with this question also is that I couldn’t understand what exactly question asked!

If you explain the question for me, well, that’s huge favor from you.

Q- 73 The maximum number of commands whose effect can be undone by the undo command is?

(a) 256

(b) 1000

(c) all the command issued since the drawing was first created

(d) all commands issued since the drawing was last loaded into the drawing editor

I think the answer is option (d), which is [all commands issued since the drawing was last loaded into the drawing editor].

The reason that option c can’t be true is that commands that we are making in autocad editor are saved in RAM and as soon as we close the autocad editor they will erase from RAM, so we can not use undo to reach our first command if the first command created before and we closed the autocad editor. We only can use undo to reach the first command that we made it from the start of using autocad editor without restarting it. Because as soon as we close autocad editor the history of our commands will erase from RAM.

Q- 74 Which one of the following commands cannot be undone?

(a) Xref

(b) setvar

(c) Save

(d) List

I think the answer is option (c), which is [save].

It’s like a meesage it sent in whatsapp, no way to got it back. 😄

Q- 75 Which one of the following commands allows simultaneous pan and zoom?

(a) zoom dynamic

(b) zoom extends

(c) zoom center

(d) zoom pan

I think the answer is option (a), which is [zoom dynamic].

When we use zoom dynamic there is rectangle which we should defind the position of that rectangle then define dimensions of that rectangle. When we try to define the dimensions of the rectangle we are almost using pan. When I look at options I just can choose zoom dynamic; however I don’t think we are using pan during zoom dynamic.

Q- 76 Which one of the following commands forces AutoCAD to revise the entire drawing taking into account the effect of changes within the system?

(a) change

(b) redo

(c) redraw

(d) regen

I think the answer is option (d), which is [regen].

My problem with this question is that I couldn’t understand what exactly question asked but when I look at the options I think the question asked me about refreshing or sth like that which only option d (regeneration) can be fit with my guess.

If you explain the question for me, well, that’s huge favor of you.

Q- 77 Which one of the following options of the undo command allows the undo facility to be disabled?

(a) Auto

(b) Control

(c) End

(d) Group

I think the answer is option (b), which is [control].

When we type undo to rund undo command there is an option named control. In the control there is n option named none. If we choose none option of control, we can’t do undo anymore which this question point to this.

Q- 78 The command to scale a paper space viewport to half the drawn size is?

(a) Zoom 0.5x

(b) Zoom 1/2x

(c) Zoom 2xp

(d) zoom 0.5xp

I think the answer is option (d), which is [zoom 0.5xp].

Because the question wanted to scale a paper viewport. I think p in “xp” represet page. That’s all I know.

Q- 79 Which of the following statements is true for AutoCad?

(a) “Zoom all” will reach beyond the drawing limits if an object is there.

(b) “Zoom all” only reaches out to the drawing limits.

(c) There is not real difference between “Zoom all” and “Zoom e”.

(d) “Zoom all” makes all objects visible irrespective of the layer visibility state.

I think the answer is option (b), which is [“Zoom all” only reaches out to the drawing limits].

“zoom all” will show all of the page. If we used limit so it shows the limit area. The main difference between zoom all and zoom e (extended) is that zoom e try to show all of objects in the biggest way but zoom all don’t care to objects, it only cares about page.

Q- 80 To reverse the UNDO command the correct entry is?

(a) redo

(b) redraw

(c) Esc

(d) U

I think the answer is option (a), which is [redo].

You should probably break this down into much smaller chunks. Most people post a question or two per post.

I dunno about anyone else, but if someone handed me a test like that during an interview I'd walk out.  Neither one of us would be happy with me working there.  Half the question are vague and the other half are opinion based that changes with the industry/location.

no

these are samples of interview's questions. no one asked all of them during one interview.

Hi @Anonymous,

This is certainly a painful list of questions and i am not sure that I would readily know each answer and I have been using AutoCAD for 35 years. At any rate, I will try to work at least part way through the list for you. I got through Question 14.

I personally feel that most of this list is not very good and most interviews regarding AutoCAD will likely be more related to what you have used AutoCAD for in the past and to determine your familiarity with production-related work flow.

Lynda.com is a good starting point as a refresher as well as YouTube.com. Autodesk has a channel there with quite a wealth of videos that show different features and techniques. You might also look for Autodesk University videos.

I hope this helps.

Coordinate display can help you determine where objects in your drawing are located. They can be displayed in a variety of ways.  Typically I use coordinates for input (polar for angle, distance). They can be absolute mean a fixed location such as 0,0,0 or relative to the last point.

Q- 2 Which one of the following is the maximum number of layers which can be defined in an autocad drawing?

This questin has no options. (exactly like Q12)

AutoCAD allows virtually unlimited number of layers although too many will likely make your work more complicated to navigate.

While this command still exists in AutoCAD it has largely been replace by the Viewbase command

Q- 5 When constructing an AutoCAD Solid Model the UCS command is used to

(a) Draw more accurately

(b) Draw Solid Objects

(c) Rotate Solid Objects

(d) Define a new Drawing Plane

I have no idea about this. I don’t know what’s the solid model?! Also I don’t know about ucs.

UCS stands for User Coordinate System. It allows you to reorient the direction of your X,Y,Z to draw in different directions or drawing planes.

A solid model is a 3 dimensional piece of geometry that is constructed from Solids (rather than meshes or surfaces)

Q- 6 In a Windows dialogue box, moving from one field to another is achieved by which of the following key combinations?

(a) Ctrl+ [Tab]

(b) Alt+ [Tab]

(c) Shift+ [Tab]

(d) [Tab]

Answer is c.

If I understand the question correctly, the answer is TAB. Open a Windows dialog (perhaps one form your control panel) and you will see that using TAB moves your cursor location from field to field.

Q- 7 Which of the following key combinations does not invoke an I/O command?

(a) Ctrl+ P

(b) Ctrl+ F

(c) Ctrl+ S

(d) Ctrl+ O

Answer is option b.

Control F invokes the OSNAP feature.

Q- 8 A common command for many Windows applications is "Page Setup". What in AutoCAD does Page Setup achieve?

(a) Sets the scale at which the drawing is printed.

(b) Sets the output device, also the size and orientation of the output

(c) Sets limits and the working units.

(d) Sets Up the paper size, margins and orientation

I think the answer is option b.

If you describe options that would be a good help from you.

Page Setups in many/most Windows applications typically control margins, orientation (portrait or landscape), no of pages, paper size, and printer options

Q- 9 Why does AutoCAD allow you more than one layout?

(a) Different output devices.

(b) Different sizes of output.

(c) Different output orientation .

(d) All of the above.

I think the answer is option d?!

This is a bit of a tricky question. Layouts can be used to show different representations/views of the model data such as a floor plan, site plan, ceiling plan. They can also show the same data views  but with different annotation or scales to emphasize certain features or to plot to different devices or sizes of media.

By dreaded, I believe the question was an attempt at being funny. When paperspace was first introduced it was a challenge for many users to fully comprehend and integrate into their workflow.  It is now considered fairly commonplace. It is commonly used to represent the output "piece of paper" at a 1:1 relationship. This lets you see views of your model at a scale and relationship to the real size output.

Q- 11 Which one of the following commands can be used to obtain information about a selected object?

(a) ID

(b) LIST

(c) MEASURE

(d) STATUS

The answer is option b.

This is a bit misleading as ID can identify a point on an object., LIST shows a variety of object properties, Measure can show the length of an object.

I believe that the intended answer is the one you chose.

Unlimited is the answer for which they are looking

Q- 13 The effect of freezing a layer is to?

(a) make it invisible and prevent regeneration

(b) make it invisible but allow regeneration

(c) allow visibility and regeneration

(d) display the layer but prevent editing of it

the answer is option (a).

Correct - Freezing was designed to help speed/performance issues.

Q- 14 Which of the following shapes CANNOT be drawn by the polygon command?

(a) Square

(b) Hexagon

(c) Rectangle

(d) Equilateral triangle

the answer is option (c).

Yes, this command is designed to draw equal length sides for the objects.

I like your floor plan as it shows quite a few features. You might consider adding some more layers so you can create additional views. For instance, show a site plan, a floor plan, a furniture plan, perhaps a reflected ceiling plan, a roof plan. You might even consider showing an enlarged plan of a bathroom to show dimensions and locations of fixtures. I would recommend that you display your different views in paperspace using different scales to display your knowledge of how to work with scale, ltscale, dimscale, annotative scaled objects.

I have never had anyone ask me questions like this, except for here on the forums. When going to an interview, I've had an actual CAD test on someone's computer with a specific task they ask to be done and they time it and review the command line once done.

I've been working with AutoCAD / Civil 3D for over 12 years and learn something new all the time. For the most part interviewers understand that the average user does not know everything, especially when it comes to SETVAR commands and things like that.

Back in 1993 I was given a 'trivia' test like this one and it was on a computer so I couldn't add anything to my answers.  The biggest problem was I was working on a release 2 or 3 versions beyond what the test was based on so I had to try and remember if the question was valid for a version I hadn't worked on for years.  I did well on it but didn't take the job when offered.

A few years later the 'test' at another company was me sitting at a computer while the cad guy had me perform tasks as he thought of them.

I stopped here and did not continue.

I use modelspace/paperspace and have never heard of this, "dreaded Model Space and Paper Space".

I would not have any interest in working for a company with this question on their form.

We are 17 yrs into the 21st century.

As an illustration of how the questions are too vague, etc. consider this one.

Q- 6 In a Windows dialogue box, moving from one field to another is achieved by which of the following key combinations?

(a) Ctrl+ [Tab]

(b) Alt+ [Tab]

(c) Shift+ [Tab]

(d) [Tab]

Notice the question states "...moving from one field to another is achieved..."

(c) and (d) both work and will move from one field to another.  (c) will move backwards one field at a time, (d) will move forward one field down at a time.

Hopefully someone grading the test knows this and would give either answer a pass.  More often than not the person creating a test (call it a test or an interview, still a test) doesn't know the subject matter as well as they should.  If it is a formal written test, the test should be validated properly within the company prior to being used.

I've taught AutoCAD/Drafting for the past 22 years and used it for over 28 years. Several of these questions are out dated but the majority are spot on. The one about F6 and Ctrl D toggles COORDS... it use to but not now and they toggle Dynmic UCS.

Oh and the answer to question 57 is option (a)...  %%c will give you the diameter symbol and %%d will give you the degree symbol.

Funny you say that as you reply to a thread that is over a year old.

If they don’t like you from the outset they will hand you something like this. Why they don’t like you it’s on them. The best thing for you to do is to stand up and tell them “thank you for your time”, and leave immediately. You just ran into some type of humanoids and there is not much you can do. Even if you answer correctly to all those questions they will find something to reject you. The same happens when they want to fire someone already hired. Hit them with the standards that are created from the beginning impossible to be met or followed. In every industry is the same strategy even... fast food industry. That's how “we” like to coexist on planet earth. They casually call it human nature because..... somehow they believe they are humans.
