Intersection between a surface and a line

Hello,

I use Autocad 2016. I8 would like to define the intersection point between a line and and a curved surface.

the curved surface is generated from the loft function.

Thanks in advance

Best regards

A small workaround:

Extrude the line (as surface) in any direction a small amount. Trim this extruded surface at the lofted surface. Find the coordinates of the appropriate endpoint of the trimmed surface.

See an example video.

Try using the IMPRINT command.

  1. Use thicken (on a copy of the surface) and give the surface a thin thickness.
  2. Using cylinder pick one end of the line for the base,  specify a small value for the radius, then enter the letter A (for Axis endpoint) and pick the other end of the line.

  3. Make a copy of the thickened surface with a displacement of 0,0,0 (coincident with itself).
  4. Give the Boolean subtract command and click one of the thickened surfaces then [Enter] and then click the cylinder.  The result will be a gap in the cylinder where the line intersects.   The intersection point is the midpoint of the gap.

Suppose there's no need for 3D-SOLIDS.

Have a look at the picture and the DWG (ACAD 2020)-
