internal error !xdata.cpp@1784

Can anyone tell me why i get this and what it means?

I'm working with a developer to automate CAD drawing conversions to get clients from one drawing system to another. The utility that we have created scans the original drawing, references an external mapping spreadsheet and places the appropriate block down over the original.

The utility also adds XDATA to the new fixture blocks which is integral to our drawing system.

If anyone has any ideas on what this error message means it would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Hi @Anonymous,

I am researching this issue internally to determine if I can offer any insight to what this means. I will post back when I have some data to share.

My first guess is that your XDATA is not properly constructed.  It is just a guess based upon the error containing "!xdata" as its first word.

Hi @Anonymous,

Since you are getting the Xdata error, I am curious if you see any others when running your routine. Do you have a system crash with a CER report? that might help to determine what is going on. Otherwise the error number is not enough to go on.

How are you attaching the xdata to the blocks? Are you doing something similar to this?

Hi John Thanks for getting back to me.

In actual fact, the CAD drawing with the problem is launching fine when opened with AutoCAD. The problem occurs when the drawing is launched using our application.

All drawings that have been processed using the utility has the problem. The reported error is the only one that occurs, though the drawing immediately closes afterwards.

That isn't much to go on, i know. If it helps, i can send a copy of the Error Report Details.

Well yes, that would be my guess too with XDATA being part of the error message.

The purpose of the post was to understand exactly what is wrong with the XDATA.

It may be helpful to debug the problem by constructing the xdata within AutoCAD and trying to attach it using AutoCAD methods.  If it is invalid it likely will not attach.  examining the structure of your xdata within the Visual Lisp IDE (VLIDE) could reveal the problem.

HI @Anonymous,

I must first qualify that I am in over my head here but here goes anyways.

One of our developers took a look at the error dmp and indicated that there was a .NET command "STOREPLANNIT" that crashed when doing a selection using the API acedSSGet()

Is this a command that you have implemented in your code using the .NET API? Or is this a command implemented in the Autodesk product?

If yours, it might be that the call is not using he API correctly. Or there might be an issue when using the API. I would need to to receive an isolated code example that demonstrates the crash.

Have you started this conversation in the ADN? You might get better suggestions there.
